****2 Sweet Rainbow Morgans****Try To Guess The Steal!****

SeattleSlammerSeattleSlammer Posts: 9,964 ✭✭✭✭✭
These have always been two of my favorite toners.
Pics are very accurate: '86 is right on the money; red rim toning on 84-O is a bit more pronounced and vibrant in-hand.

One was purchased on Ebay for only $169. image
Can you guess which one?

Well I will go against the grain, and say the 86.

Thanks for the chance in the giveaway!

I would say you paid the correct amount for the 84-o, that is about its worth IMO.
With the 86 worth about $250-$300, again just my opinion

Where are you buying your toned Morgans?!?
Show me some equally impressive toned PCGS 64 Morgans for $250-300, and I'll happily show you all of my money and my savings, too. image

If you read the replies, you'll actually deduce that I got the steal on the '86, not the '84-O.

That O is pretty sweet, in fact I remember seeing that one on the 'bay recently.

I paid $70-ish for this one, in and OGH MS63 holder (1885 P)

I did NOT buy the O on Ebay.
Not too bad for $70....but I don't think it compares overall to the two I posted.....not that I'm trying to crack on your purchase, I think it's a great looking toner, but I'm trying to make the point that in general $250-300 ain't gonna buy you a really, really nicely toned PCGS 64 Morgan.

I was just trying to show that you don't have to pay $250 or 300 for a quality monster toner, and as far as the coins being equally as nice, we can agree to disagree, aside from the 1 point grade difference.

This pic sucks, but I also paid under $100 for this, in a 64 holder. (coin is bright)

My best toned buy was a 1886 MS 64 in a old fattie NGC holder. Got it for about $120 if I remember correctly...

    Here is the ebay pic:

And here is my pic, looks MUCH nicer in hand:

This one I purchased RAW at my FIRST coin show. It was in a auction and I was looking for only Toned Morgans. Got it for $100!

No need to get huffy, just told you what I thought they were worth.
So you paid less for the 86, so you DID get a good buy on it. I would have thought it
was worth more(250). As for the O mint if you paid more than the 170ish, you
    paid to much IMO.

I agree, I thought the comments to you were out of line. Personally am not a big fan of that toning especially the 84-O. I would prefer to own the 1886 P, a PCGS 65 for $190 or less that Larry Whitlow has for sale. Secondly what difference does it make if they are in PCGS holders as to the price of a toned Morgan?

That's considered being out of line?
IrishMike, I thought you'd be a little more thick-skinned than that....especially with that icon and all.
