2500 POST TRIVIA CONTEST

Usually when someone post some trivia question it get answered within the hour. You cannot put anything past the members of this forum.
I will send something to the winner but I do not know what yet. It will be something from my semi vast baseball card collection. It may not be something real valuable but it will be better then a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
Here is the question: ( I think it is a toughy)
There have only been a handfull of major leaguers who during the course of their career have led their league at least once in doubles, triples, and homers. No one has ever done it in the same year by the way. Who was the last major leaguer to accomplish this feat?

Yes, it occurred in 1887, but that year Tip O'Neil had the following stats:
167 Runs
275 Hits
52 Doubles
19 Triples
14 Home Runs
123 RBIs
.485 Batting Average
.490 On Base Average
.691 Slugging Average
All those stats led the 1887 American Association League, which was a "major league." But I believe the answer to your question is Joseph "Ducky" Medwick. In 1934, he led the NL with 18 triples. Then in 1936 he led the NL with 64 doubles and finally in 1937 he led the NL with 31 home runs. And what of Willie Mays (never led in doubles), Mickey Mantle (never led in doubles), Stan Musial (never led in home runs), Ted Williams (never led in triples) or George Brett (never led in home runs).
In 1948, Stan Musial had the following stats:
135 Runs
230 Hits
46 Doubles
18 Triples
39 Home Runs
131 RBIs
.376 Batting Average
.450 On Base Average
.702 Slugging Average
All led the league except for home runs, which was 40 by Ralph Kiner and Johnny Mize. Ah, if he had one more home run.

An eclectic mix of players have come close over the past decades: Mays, Musial, Johnny Callison. . .
Strong arguement Mize is the third best firstbaseman in history, and easily in the top five (depending on whether you consider Musial a first baseman or not)
I consider a stick to the eye extremely valuable, so if the reward is even better than that it should be something real good

Sorry for my absence........Johnny Mize is indeed the correct answer.
Since 1900 the feat has been accomplished by :
Ty Cobb, Sam Crawford, Lou Gehrig, Rogers Hornsby, Jim Bottomley, Joe Medwick and Johnny Mize.
Bthiet PM me with your name and address and I will drop something in the mail to you.
