That coin is ok but I just think its overgraded. The roller marks don't bother me its the strike and the marks in obverse field. I just can't believe it has the grade it does.

I understand the strike is typical for the issue. I suppose it probably looks nicer in hand then the pics would indicate.

If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?

The image does not make me want to write the six figure check that it would likely take to buy the coin.

I felt the luster was a trifle weak for a 67. To be picky, the strike could be better (no denticles on left obverse, weakish head stars and leg which is typical for 1838), the roller marks and obv toning dots (ex-fingerprint?) are somewhat distracting. The coloration is excellent.

I think it will bring in the $75K to $125K range....with $105K being my best guess. No doubt it will be hotly contested over as there are very few superb gem silver coins in this sale. It could bring a runaway price as well.

Ain't gonna be mine! For two reasons:
    1. I have no interest in it (though it is a beautiful coin)
    2. Lack of funds

The marks by stars 4 & 5 in the left obv. field are a little distracting, and the strike is a bit weak, but is a gorgeous coin. I bet someone putting a set together with deep pockets snags it. One thing I know for certain, it won't be me...
