RDV-006 (FEP) Photo Thief on EBay
The seller of this auction has stolen a couple of the images within it and is using them illegally. Namely this one:

which he stole from this Forum thread! He also uses the exact wording I used in describing the FEP from the very same thread. Namely the part about "This particular coin shows almost 7 distinct islands ......" He copied this stuff, word for word from the above thread even to the mispelled words!
I notified EBay but because there is no watermark on the photo, EBay will not do anything!
As a side note, this scumbag also uses photo's from ModernDollarNut's EBay auction located here. Obviously no watermark so no action on EBays part! ModernDollarNut was able to get him to change the text of his auction that he also stole from the auction (where he said he co-authored the July Numismatist article on the FEP!) but unfortunately the change amounted to not stealing from Rob and taking from my description on the Forums!
The only reason I am posting this is because this seller either lurks or is a member of this forum and I want him to know that he posted the wrong picture for the craters! He put the regular craters in his auction and not the FEP craters! I also posted this to let everybody know that this seller probably does not even have an FEP and if you bid, you're probably gonna lose!

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

<< <i>If you are going to steal a picture, it would help if the one you stole was actually of what you are trying to sell.
PS: The discription sounds like I read it before too, was that also stolen?
Sincerely,
Tim
<< <i>Hi lyds, I may be wrong, but I've got a feeling some clues to this person's identity can be found in what they are selling in their eBay store. Canuck coins, CB, ...? >>
You talkin about this auction for the 2000-P Sacajawea?
All he talks about is the Cheerios Dollar. When asked if he was auctioning a Cheerios Dollar, he said:
<< <i>PLEASE READ: AS STATED I AM NO EXPERT
I READ THE INFORMATION BELOW AND THOUGHT IT VERY INTERESTING
AS, I LOOKED AT THE COIN I AM OFFERING THE TAIL FEATHERS HAVE THE MARKINGS THEY ARE DISCUSSING
NOW IF IT IS OR NOT, I AM HOPING YOU DECIDE
THIS IS NOT MY HOBBY, AND IF IT IS, SOMEONE WILL HAVE AN GREAT DEAL !!! >>
Better beware of this bird.
As of 8/24/2007 the above referenced listing was pulled.

use your pic.
This guy originally put his auction up using text and pictures stolen from ModernDollarNut's EBay auction. When Rob called him on it, he dropped the size of Rob's pictures and added my picture and the text from my Forum post!

First, I asked if he those his pics of the coin for sale.
His response:
<<yes, close as i could, lights on silver glare with the camera,I posted several other coins also>>
Then, I asked if he REALLY (yes, I wrote REALLY in all caps) had that coin.
His response:
<<Yes, i am holding it
new condition, still real shiny,
i am not an collector, but i have some coins i had and forgotten about until today, it does have the lunar image and as pictured
you probably know more about it than i do>>
As stated earlier, he WAS also claiming to be the co-author of the July FEP article until GrandAM called him on it and then he
changed his tune and his auction description.
He has also "lifted" a Sac pic and description of a pop 1 coin.....but listed it TWICE at two different prices!
A total scammer in my book!
Ebay won't boot him because they like to collect the fees. Thankfully, no one is falling for them...YET.
Maybe, by outing him on the Forum we can help discourage him (and others) from trying these blatant scams as well
as warning other potential victims before they get taken.
JMHO.

I Love
I agree....but, they also aren't fraudulently claiming to be the author and photographer of that particular VAMWorld section, like THIS guy
did when he first listed the coin for sale! He quickly removed that part once he was called to the carpet on that!
Like I said....this is a scammer in my eyes....others might see it differently and that's OK, it's a free country.
I just don't want others to be deceived. This type of deception (or scam) is what makes it hard for people to
trust buying on eBay.

For him to out and out lie to Brian about the photo's has got to say something with regard to this seller!
Stay far far away and do not get sucked in!

Dear nativecat1,
Hello,
You stated you co-authored the article in The Numismatist,,,, which author are you as I have a copy of the article and would like to check?
- grandamgtx
Here is his reply:
Dear grandamgtx,
thank you for bringing that to my attention, it was an error on my part
- nativecat1
I guess he got confused and thought for awhile that he wrote the article and took all the photos for the FEP Article that appeared in The Numismatist,,,,,, well, that is what was originally said in the eBay auction until he changed it

I thought Ebay always used a persons name when they contact you?

In your case, it may be that somebody merely tried to sign on with your user ID and guessed at your password. Then when it was rejected, they said "I forgot" perhaps hoping to get it from eBay. This resulted in your letter, in case you really had forgotten. But it would appear the system is working.
In times pass, I have been tricked out of my password more than once. I get a letter with an unfamiliar item number. I try to click on it to see what it is. It asks for my password and I have given it. BUT you never need a password to merely look. Both times, I quickly realized my mistake and changed my password.

1. The Eagle's head photo is from ModernDollarNut's auction.
2. The Earth photo is from ModernDollarNut's auction.
3. The photo of the craters was lifted from these forums on this thread AND it is not a photo of the RDV Craters.
4. The text:
"photo is that what apears to be "downward flow" lines extend all the way across
the crater above the second L in Dollar
This particular coin shows almost 7 distinct islands off the coast of a Florida that
has a completely different shape than the regular reverse. It comes to a point and
almost appears doubled. The eastern seaboard also has a distinctly different shape
than on a regular reverse.
..............was lifted from the same thread as the craters photo and was authored by me. Of all the IKE collectors involved with the research on this variety, I am the only one to ever state that there are 7 islands.
I have not located where he stole the R picture from nor have I located where he got the Obverse and Reverse photo's from but I am searching.
Personally, I do not believe for 1 second that he has an actual RDV-006 Friendly Eagle Pattern coin and if anybody bids this auction and wins, if they receive anything at all, it will be a common, circulated 1971 Eisenhower coin. It might not even be a Denver coin as the auction states clearly that

He describes it as a POP 1 NGC holdered Sac but has no picture of the NGC holder.
I phoned and emailed eBat about this auction 8/22 with no results so far. Rob (doctortrader)
Questions about Ikes? Go to The IKE GROUP WEB SITE
I'm gonna try to follow up and see if they actually receive an RDV-006 as the more I look at his obv/rev photo's, the less I am convinced this guy has the real thing!
