Finally got the 1986-S Silver Eagle 70 Proof
Welp,
I am slowly but surely collecting a set of these in 70s for fun and future for my boys. I pulled the trigger on a 1986-S Silver Eagle Proof 70 Ultra Cameo (NGC). Any Silver Eagle proof collectors out there that can give me a good ballpark of value on this?? Ebay isn't much of a help on this since they don't come up often and I was the last purchase.
I think I got it at a pretty good price and of course I need to get it in hand to check for milk spots, etc. But the seller looks respectable. Should it look good, it gets vacuum packed up and sealed away for a bit. I have a long way to go on this collection but it is fun to get the first one in the series..
Any idea of value on this would be appreciated. I did my own research but it wouldn't hurt to get some expert confirmation from Silver Eagle collectors here.
Thanks!

I checked Heritage and that shows auctions for this coin in 70 (from NGC or PCGS) as over $1000.
If 1986-S Proof 70s go for $350, then I did overpay significantly. hmph.

<< <i>Remember that the keys in this series get VERY expensive in 70.

I have the reverse proof from 2006 already. The 95W well, that might be missing for a decade or so
But if these sell for $400 or so, them my stomache is doing major flops right now.

For the future of your boys? Your buying 70's as an investment? Bad idea.
Buying 70's is buying nothin but plastic. As the 2006-W plats (1 ounce) have shown us, they don't hold value very well.
<< <i>Well maybe I overpaid.

I paid $50 for mine and told I over paid. It is definitely graded a Proof MS 70 but do not remember if it is a cameo.

Is this your auction?
If so, don't worry about it, you did fine.

One went for $1300+ the other day. Heck of a swing!

Which one is it ? A Proof or a MS?
If it's a MS70, it won't have a cameo.
It seems that the 2005 & 2007 NGC Slabs go for under $100 but the earlier years aren't even close to that.

1986-S PR70 Ultra Cameo by NGC. Well I am wishing I paid only $400. They guy had on buy it now for $1495 and I paid much less than that but still double of that ebay auction. I always check Heritage and it shows me getting a deal at the price I paid for it from auctions in 2006 and 2007. The last one on Heritage went for $1700 or so for NGC.
This is not the MS coin for those that asked. Well, if I got burned it was because I didn't do enough research. I have been very fortunate to get into coins and especially these boards. I have built a collection (minor for now) for my boys completely free practically by occasionally buying a good deal and selling a bit higher and buying other coins.
If I was wrong on this one, this would be my 2nd live and learn coin lesson.
Thanks for the info!
