Time to buy another bullion coin

I pick up a hunk of bullion from time to time when the checkbook permits. In the long run I'd probably make out by just buying a bunch when the price is down but one or two or five at a time suits me and it's surprising how quick it adds up.

Anyway I want to pick up one more coin. I was going to get an 07 Beefalo proof but think I may get one of these .99999 Canadian Maple Leafs.

I'm trying to figure out the difference between .9999 and .99999 but the simple truth is I can get that special edition Maple Leaf for just over spot and a proof gold beefalo carries a hefty cost over spot.

Any reason to, or not to get a Maple Leaf?

get the Buff.......It has bullion AND numismatic value.

    Plus.....it's mo' purdyer.

There's some places where you can get the Buff's at not a whole lot over spot. Just find a dealer that hasn't got that much invested in one (i.e traded some not so costly stuff for the Buffs, therefore he is able to sell you one cheaper than usual)

I'd get the beefster, it is much nicer to look at as long as you can get one for a good price.

You can get MS Buffaloes at a bit over spot. Why are you looking at Proof? Is the Maple Leaf also proof? I would imagine that the any proof comes at a premium.

    JapanJohn:
I recently picked up a 2007 Maple .99999 just over spot on ebay and really I appreciate the subtle reverse proof and the new Maple Leaf design...... and it comes in very clean packaging.
With the limited mintage and extra nine at near spot, what the hell.

    SpaceMonkey,

I swear to God if the government breaks down and sells a gold Sac and I wake up one morning to find out you bought it before me we'll have to tangle.

    Loser buys the beer.
