There was a thread last weekend about the low prices for coins on eBay. I can confirm that since some of my coins sold for very low prices.
I will be waiting til the end of the month to begin selling again.
Maybe buyers are still on vacation or gearing up for the ANA in Milwaukee.

So bad that I've had to start putting reserves on my coins and I hate that.

I won't be putting anything up until October due to August is vacation time for a lot of folks, I'm heading to Thailand first 2 weeks of September, so that leaves October. I'm sure the prices realized will be better then.......Rick

I have some dupes to sell but am waiting as well.
As for the OP.....the auction cited doesn't surprise me. I see auctions like that.....so much talk and very little in the way of actual pictures, and so much fluff (top grade in NGC 69 set, etc), that I wouldn't put much into it either, if I even bid

The seller huffs and puffs that the coins are in the "ultimate grade" from NGC -- but they're MS69. Doesn't NGC do 70 anymore, or is he just stuffed full of it?
    When in doubt, don't.

NGC sure does do 70, but this is still low for a 69 set...........Rick

Last year, August was my best month. In fact, it was my record month until January of this year, which was my record month until June of this year. July was up 50% from last year. Summer slowdown?

I think coin prices are affected by stock prices and the mortage loan problems more than people realized or will amit.

I declare the bottom is in, or close to it. I sold my milk spotted PCGS 69 set for almost $700 at or near the peak of the SAE frenzy.
That's about a $300 drop, or 40+ percent from the top.

    BUY BUY BUY!

I guarantee you this person did not make a profit. I remeber that name and I sold him a sealed box of ten around $8500 on ebay.

Why does everyone ASSume that the seller bought the set for $100?
As stated by someone else in the thread, the same seller was a buyer of sets (at least, an unopened box of 10....for $8500 ($850/set)).

Too many people like to assume they know what is happening for others.....just take it at face value....he sold a set on ebay for what was linked to. No one but that person knew the cost they have into the set so stop pretending like you know. image

I agree its a bad time to sell now. I sold one 69 PCGS set for $900.00 in May. 250,000 is still low as far as supply goes, considering the mint sells close to a million SAE proofs a year. Who is buying all these regular proofs? I doubt that its all dealers buying them. There is a large collector base for these.

Bad time to sell is fine to me as I'm a buyer and I picked up a nice upgrade last night for 1/3 of what they go for. Looks like it's a buyer's market right now and I love it. This winter will pick up.
