OK Looked in the red Book and looked on line no answer there. This is a high dollar coin can some one tell me why?

Aside from having the 1964 SMS in the original mint packeing or whatever it was put in how could you tell if you had a 1964 SMS or a 1964 Philidephia ? Just curious

Compare the strike and surfaces on that Teletrade coin to a regular business strike example. The strike is much crisper, and the surfaces are not only mark-free, (which is impossible on the business strikes), but have a different texture.

A few sets of these SMS coins were produced. They will not be found floating about in circulation. They are a relatively unappreciated modern rarity.
The 1964 SMS in your Teletrade pic doesn't seem to approach the brilliance of the 1965s that I remember. Were the '64s sort of matte-like?

ANY 64 with flat surfaces and bagmarks IS NOT a SMS coin.
