Chinese Counterfeit Capped Bust Half on ebay

Just a heads up so no one gets stuck with this junk coming out of China. This is "new" and not a circulating type contemporary counterfeit. Mold made from a real 1809 (wrong Design type) with the last numeral changed from a 9 to a 7. Note no recent feedback. Note 3 day "quickie" auction. This is probably the same guy, (different seller name) who tried to sell it on ebay earlier this year (in March). Steer clear of this one!

I've contacted ebay about it. Lets see if they "pull it".

Still there. And if that were a real coin, way to lay it against a brick wall where it'll be prone to scratches if set/removed improperly.

I'd back off guys. I'm not sure this is a recent Chinese fake. I think this may be a contemporary counterfeit. The photos are lousy but the fabric of the coin looks better than the typical chinese fake and the current high bidder (bhncbad) is a collector of capped bust halves and contemporary counterfeit bust halves. So I think he knows what he is doing.

We will know if the Chinese are doing Bust halves when the 1798-CC shows up.......

I'm with Dennis; I'll bet it's a real 1809 with altered date. Definitely not a contemporary counterfeit.

No I'm quite sure it is a mold piece. I've examined one personally and these have appeared before on ebay. Definitely NOT a Contemporary (circulating) Counterfeit type.

Additionally they (China) are also doing pieces from the 1830's. To date, 1833, 1834 and 1835 so far that I know of. Thing is, the one's from the 1830's are all the SAME DIE PAIR (i.e. Variety)!

Our con-man is back. This time with a one day auction of the known Chinese Counterfeit Capped Bust 1807 Half (wrong design type made from a mold of an 1809 half).
