Don't really like that one - looks like a radioactive popsicle. He does have neat coins from time to time, but the loud "no Paypal' in the description keeps me far away.
In regards to the paypal thing. I was bidding on a coin of his once and asked him about it. i volunteered to pay the fees associated with paypal and he said that he'd have no problem with that. So basically i think he'll accept it as long as you cover the fees.
i'm no expert, but with that grade and color i cannot see happening together. but what do i know ?

<< <i>As long as anyone wants to pay 3 1/2% PAYPAL Fees I would be delighted to take PAYPAL. Its simply too much money for me. >>
You're being penny wise, and pound foolish. If you accepted PayPal, the fee would be 2.2% not 3.5%, and that 2.2% would be easily covered in the increase in realized prices.

but there are other reasons some sellers refuse to use Paypal...
there are other reasons some sellers refuse to use Paypal...
why be cryptic clad? i bet some sellers do not like it because it allows the buyer to have some protections. how do u rip someone off when they use paypal carefully and follow the rules to protect themselves from fraud?

No cryptic stuff. That's exactly what I mean. I've been told by two eBay dealers (not people on this forum) that the one reason they don't use Paypal is because it's too easy for customers to make returns and demand their money back.
For the record its simply economics. I sell coins for other people and charge what I think is a fair comission. If I were to charge more money I would not be competitive with other auction formats in my opnion. I have no problem with returns (unlike auction companies) and anyone who has dealt with me as a buyer or seller understands that the buyer must be satisfied and that includes ability to return items. Any inuendos as to other reasons that I would not take PAYPAL are unjustified.
What the heck is wrong with that coin. For a collector of eye-appeal and not necessarily full and complete originality/crusties, that coin would be nice to view in one's collection. Anyone can tell that it's an after toning, but if you accept it for what it is, I think it's a pleasing coin. I don't think it's AT at all, just a coin that saw much use in its' day and then at some point long ago, was put away and stored in such a way for it to develop some character. I for one would enjoy this coin more that a similar technically graded example that is either completely dipped white or looks like it resided under a pile of dog for a number of years.
It was already sold raw, and appropriately described as a POS.

I would still (as I assume most would) take the coin Russ posted way before a dipped out white boring piece or one that looks like it has been buried in doggy

Not me. I'd just pass and wait for the right coin to come along.

Good point, but given the scenario where one needed to choose, I think most would choose Russ's coin.

I only ask because I was at an older gentlemans home recently and saw some heavily circulated peace and morgan dollars with some real nice toning.

He does have some great coins on auctions but I agree about the paypal thing.

They do, but this one has seen a cleaning then a "retoning".
NGC says this one is market acceptable; who am I to question their most high and mighty opinion?

selling crap to unsuspecting buyers.
they are the reason this hobby blows and some folks kiss
their butts around here.
would have any of us normal collectors ever sent that coin in
to be graded? no of course not.
but dealers like them will do anything to make a buck.
disgusting.
edited to add: better yet for them, they dont send it in. they
get it for pennies on the dollar at a show because the honest
dealer lets it go as AT.

I think it is NT. It was cleaned at one time and put into an album. I see no problem with the seller.
