eBay cancelled my auction!!! I need to vent!

My auction for this nice '16-S no F counterfeit Buffalo just got cancelled! I thought I was okay since I specifically said the coin was counterfeit and it is listed in Ron Pope's abraded dies book, but I guess I was wrong. It had a lot of hits and watchers, too, and was getting bids. After my earlier post (see 'I almost fell for it...') and eBay's lack of action on such an obvious scam, I'm really frustrated...I know I was probably in the wrong for lising it there in the first place, but I needed to vent!!! Thanks for listening!! (I tried not to yell too loud so the neighbors don't call the police!)

<< <i>U.S. federal laws strictly prohibit the sale of counterfeit coins or paper money, as well as equipment designed to make these illegal products. U.S. law also protects coins or paper money from counterfeiters. Therefore, these counterfeit items may not be listed on eBay. >>

There does not appear to be any wiggle room in their policy.

I know, I know. But their track record on enforcing their policies is severly lacking!

Just list it as a "pattern" and you'll be fine... that's what all the replica/copy scammers do anyway.

Yeah, List it as a copy. I don't see any of these being taken off Ebay.

Considering that fakes are sold every day on ebay, that would do well to police other listings....esp key date coins. But apparently the listing fees and commissions are too much to pass on.

  • E Bay did the right thing, IMO.

How to alienate half the group with your 2nd post.

The unfortunate thing is that if you didn't use the C-word in your listing, it may have flown under eBay's radar.
