New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Earlier this year, I was browsing the UCB website and see an ad for Silver American Eagles, 20 for $130 plus you get a couple of books/newsletters for free. I call for the offer, strike up a conversation with "Joe", talk about football, our hometowns, etc. Hey, buy the way, we just got several rolls of proof Platinum American Eagles, Joe explains to me, would you like to buy a roll, the prices are great! How much, I ask? $4000. So, here I am, I buy $130 of silver eagles, and already they are jacking me up to a $4000 purchase. At first I say, no, he offers me a deal for 3 coins, I feel the pressure, and say okay, I get transferred to a deal closer, and chicken out and say no again. "Joe" comes back on the phone and tries to talk me back into it. Buy the way, the coins were $100 over Trends, each (great deal!). I tell him to just cancel the entire order, he backs off, we agree that I still buy the SAEs, get the free books, etc. The coins, come, the books come, no problem.
Now, every couple months, I get a call from "Joe", which I never answer. He always leaves me a message telling me that it is very important that I call him back.
You may draw your own conclusions from my experience.
They then called the day after I received the book asking if I wanted to buy a full date set of SAE's from them. I said no and they kept edging me on. I'll never do business with them again.
Let's hear your experiences

you seem to be smearing a major player in the industry all over the boards today. I recommend caution as Mike has shown a willingness to protect his good name through litigation. Looking at his bio and personal recommendations I'd be hesitant to badmouth him.

Well, in this case, if the shoe fits wear it. Mike is nothing by a sleezy business manager according to the article that is circulating. People need to know how his business works.
