I know something is wrong here, but need some help

A trader on another board is trying to move his card and two others:

He says they are "graded reprints". If you look up the card in the PSA registry, the grade should be 7OC. The thing that bugs me is if I didn't know any better, this looks 100% authentic. What am I missing here? Could someone have opened a legit card, made a fake label and put it all back together?

Any insight anyone can provide would be helpful.

Thanks,
Mark

I curious as to WTF is going on here as well, something like this totally undermines any confidence in graded cards/PSA.

What? How does this undermine the confidence? The guy does not have the card, he doctored a photo. Where is the confidence in grading lost? I think you meant to say, the confidence in this seller's credibility was lost. Right?

Didn't see the note about the doctored photo when I posted, but yes you're right, this relects on the seller, not on graded cards.

    The edges look really frosty.

The only thing authentic here is probably the case and the back of the flip. The card and the front of the flip are home-brew.

The "MINT 9" is also MUCH more clear than the rest of the printing. Photoshopped for sure.

Yup and the grade (MINT 9) is clearly photoshopped.

I believe the (89 Bowman) reprints have the word "reprint" on the front of the card. The Topps reprints from 1996 go even further. They have a gold embossing on the front of the card. PSA would never omit the word reprint from the flip. The card in the photo would never have received an (OC) so clearly the card and the flip are not connected except through the magic of photoshop.

How often do you think this happens? ...where someone photoshops a card, makes a sale, takes the money, and runs?

Please tell me there is a good defense against this?!?

Anyone would be crazy not to buy a card like only in person. Unless of course you are dealing with someone like Levi Bleam, Steve Hart, so another well known trustworthy dealer. If you can afford to buy that, you can afford a plane ticket and a hotel to see it in hand and make your purchase.

Thanks for the info. Now that photoshopped grade has been pointed out, I can't believe I didn't see that.

It is not on CU's boards. I don't post here too often and wasn't sure how CU was on posting links to other boards.

Nick, that is really F'n funny. At least you could have photoshopped the hair out of the scan

Some of the stuff that gets posted on the boards just cracks me up. I love to see PSA go out and get em, its like seeing your big brother take off to kick the school bullies ass.

That flip type on the front with the rounded corners would have a blue flip on the back, but with the CU hologram also. The light blue on the back did not have that type of flip on the front.
