    Coins, David.... coins. Think coins.
You have red cents ? I have common cents image
Okay, back to coins ! If you didn't have any more coins and you lost them all, would you even come back to coins ? If so, revert to the beginning of the thread.

LOL, you are young, I can tell. Young numistmatists get a lot of freebies. I should have sent my daughters here first image

Um, what sort of freebies could a guy get ? I'm so used to paying. Free classics ? You mean I just had to ask for freebies ?

I'd be really bummed if I lost everything and if I had the money to start over and I decided to collect rather than deal, I'd focus on early material, i.e. 1793 to 1836.
  • kwmorgankwmorgan Posts: 967
I'd collect just the "CC" mint issues.

I would not start over. It would be tough but I'd stop collecting.

    Coins, David.... coins. Think coins.

Oh... I thought you said I lost everthing.

I'd collect nothing but key dates in as nice as I could get.

Here's a Dream list... one coin every 3-6 months, longer for the chain and flyer.
1793 Chain Cent (Unfortunatly, anaconda sold that premo one before my nickels in the closet had enough melt value)
    1856 Flying Eagle
    1877 Indian
    1909-S Indian
    1909-S VDB
    1914-D Lincoln
    1955/55 Lincoln
    1885 V Nickel
    1912-S V Nickel
    1913-S T2 Buff
    1914-D Buff
    1895-O Dime
    1916-D Dime
    1896-S Quarter
    1913-S Quarter
    1932-D Quarter
    1916-S Walker Half
    1921 Half
    1921-D Half
    1921-S Half
    1795 Dollar
    1889-CC Dollar
    1893-S Dollar
    1921 Peace Dollar
    1928 Dollar
    1934-S Dollar

Notably absent are the 01-S quarter and 16 standing lib quarter. I think they're over hyped and over priced for the ease of finding them. I did include a few coins that are IMO over hyped, but they are still at a price point to make them attractive to me.

Sad but true, I don't think I'd have the heart to start over.

moderns? no, personally i would move on to another hobby rather than buy modern to "collect". Buy the nicer ones and flip them for a profit to buy nice classic coins, yeah; but not to collect moderns.
