Obstinate seller on eBay

What can I do about a seller who won't switch out a new silver set he sold me that came without its advertised COA? I asked him to switch it out with another he has in stock and he won't do it. I know he has several in stock, as well as others he has up for auction too. Why would the guy not budge for an item that was mailed incomplete? I've bought a number of mint, proof, and silver sets. Three or four have come without COAs, but this is the first that the seller has been so adamant about not providing a COA or not replacing the set.

  • There's a Dispute Console in My eBay. Details here.
  • What year is the set? I can send you a COA if it's from 2000. I have extras.
  • Did the auction state that it came with a COA or was it in the picture?

If it was, then the item is "not as advertised" and I would file a dispute with eBay. If it were me, I'd do what I could to satisfy your purchase even if the Mint made this error. I always check that stuff before I pack it.

I also have some extra ones lying around from sets that I broke up and if I have the one you need I'll send it to you.
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!

    Who's the seller?

Is he adamant about not switching out the set, or adamant about not sending you the COA? If it's the former, I see no reason why he would want/need to switch out the set. But he does owe you the COA, and if he's telling you he's not going to send you that, then I would suggest you open a dispute with eBay as previously mentioned.

    Good luck!

  • thanks, PayPal intervened, but all they did was arbitrate for a refund. Some good they were. The guy will neither switch-out or provide the as-advertised COA. Like I said, several other sellers jumped to provide a COA once I let them know one was missing. It's just real disappointing and disgusting to run into folks like this, especially when one has never jacked around any buyer in having been on eBay for about 8 years. I chose to fuh-get the guy and will pick one up off eBay for 99 cents. You folks take care.
