PCGS storage boxes

I own a few blue PCGA storage boxes and they are great for newer slabs. I understand that there are green ones too. Is there a black box which only fits first generation slabs, or am I wrong? It seems like there are enough blue boxes around to hold all of the new slabs three times over, but I never see black boxes for sale.
I collect circulated U.S. silver

Yeah, the last first generation "Black Box" I saw
was on eBay with a Buy-It-Now of $80.00. I just
couldn't make myself pull the trigger on it.

Seems like someone would come out with a rattler
holder. While at the Charlotte ANA show, I talked
to the Whitman rep about the need for something,
but I'm sure it was forgotten as soon as I walked
away. The guy was pretty busy selling first generation
    Red Books anyway.

I have several of the old black boxes that were designed for rattlers. Sorry I don't have a pic handy.

The box is a track box, and is constructed of plastic covered tagboard. It is not injection molded like the green and blue boxes.

    what ever became of Conder101?

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

  • NGC also had a light brown (semi translucent?) They are now
    a silver color .
As for Whitman , they do have a blue box similar to PCGS
The blue PCGS does not hold NGC slabs, as they are slightly
taller . NGC and Whitman hold both .
PCI also had a cardboard box with the plastic 'tabs'
    glued inside

He got banned here but he posts across the street (NGC forums).

He had it listed for that price with a "Best Offer" a while back so I offered $30 and he rejected it saying they sell for more. I won this auction for (3) Black Boxes and this auction for a Double Box a couple of months ago. They actually went for quite a bit lower than I expected (and was willing to pay).

The PCI boxes that I have are just plain white cardboard boxes with white plastic strips of tab separators...... NO MARKINGS of ANY TYPE....
  • How do you know they are PCI boxes? There were some generic boxes from coin supply houses back in the mid to late 80's.
