1868 Liberty Head Three Cent Nickel

Hello all,

Just came across this fine coin, but there appears to be a hole or something (it does not go all the way through) on OBV and Rev. How does this affect the value? Show I even bother to send it to PCGS for grading?

Thanks!

Kevin

Don't send this one in. Even if it weren't cleaned and damaged, it looks about VF and worth $25 tops.

As it is, it might be worth half that or a little less. Just a guess.

Under no circumstances should you send that coin to PCGS, or anyone else, for grading. It is a damaged, common date coin of very low value and no potential.
    All glory is fleeting.
  • got it - thanks
  • Bye the way, I don't think this coin was cleaned, if so, not by me. I bought it a few days ago from an older gentleman who had it is a holder for what looked like at least 30 years...

For my information, how can you spot a cleaned coin? If you can do it from a picture, I can surely do it in person.

    Thanks.

    Kevin
