Laughable ebay shipping charge...

This guy is constantly circumventing ebay fees. I guess they are OK with it as I've reported him and they never do anything. All auctions are at .99 cents. This item could ship for a couple bucks max. This auction is fairly obvious, shipping is listed at the bottom in seller instructions.

And, he's at 3.1/5 for shipping charges.

  • In a couple of his negative feedbacks, he responds that the item is being shipped from Russia, yet he claims to be in TX.

I'm really surprised that people even bid on his stuff!
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!
  • He has his shipping charges buried at the bottom. Most Ebay bidders read the item description and stop at the terms. This seller is counting on the fact that most people don't read the shipping prices. I
I've gotten burned on Ebay once or twice for that myself.

Even if it was coming from Russia, that's excessive. I bought a set of Guinness ornaments that came from Germany and didn't pay even close to that in shipping and there were 4 packed in a fairly large box. Insured to boot because they were glass. This would make sense if he planned on shipping via Concord

I agree! I shipped antique pottery to Austrailia and it didn't cost that much! Those 5 gal paint buckets from Home Depot are great for shipping (the new ones of course, not the ones that have paint in them)!

I wonder what he would charge if something sold for a HIGH price and the buyer insisted on REGISTERED MAIL (He seemed adamant about Priority Insured)....
  • His older auctions were all private. Anytime a seller keeps the item and the bidders private, that's a red flag to avoid as he probably sells reproductions and counterfeits and doesn't want a savvy bidder to alert anyone they are getting scammed. I buy my antique glassware on Ebay. Lots of bad sellers out there trying to sell reproduced items as vintage or old. This guy should be used as the poster child for who to avoid in the Ebay University course.

Do these reports actually get anywhere on Ebay? I've reported a few sellers selling reproductions as genuine and they are still out there selling their reproductions with misleading descriptions. I have one negative on my feedback for calling one seller on her deceptive practices and I left a Neutral not negative because dumb me didn't check my book before bidding and bought the repro. It's sitting on my kitchen counter to remind me to be more careful. She came back and called me the "worst ever" on Ebay. She's still out there selling junk. Many reports filed on this seller. And even if they do get some sanction from Ebay, the just re-register with another name and carry on the same scam.

If you check his other auctions, he lists everything for .99 cents and adjusts the shipping charge to compensate for the items worth. Most are tokens and would cost the same to ship but the shipping costs range from $2.99 to $75.00. Seems like ebay would be able to figure this out pretty easily. The last time I reported I noticed most didn't sell so they probably did the math and it's better to collect the listing fees for fifteen items and give up the one or two final value fees that do sell. I've seen this happen before on a Chinese seller. If most were selling they would be pulled in a heartbeat.

    It's all about the dollar.

Actually, I was never interested in any of his items. Something popped up in an unrelated search. Sounds like you have a simular set of operating procedures to his.

    That's sad.

Before calling people "cry baby snitches" you may want to check your morals. Some of us would like to live in an honest society, and people that are out to scam other people are a threat to that.

Scammers, manipulators, and cheaters get no sympathy from me. I will report them every time I catch them. It is my duty as an honest citizen.

Ebay pulled it. They do not like people attempting fee avoidance. This ussually ends up with a short suspension also.
  • BlackBeardBlackBeard Posts: 1,064
They only pulled the $75 one, there are still ones with $19 shipping on a token. I guess that's the acceptable overcharge for ebay shipping.

ORDERLY! ORDERLY! 13Paces is off his medication again; and make sure you tighten his straps down, we don't need another outburst like this!

  • I've seen it before on threads where we are reporting overcharging for shipping. He can feel free to block me from his ebay auctions.

Yeah, it's funny when people like him accuse reporters of being "cry babies." I think it's pretty obvious who the "cry baby" is in that situation!
