Need some help, boys, with a '52 Bowman Large Football find......

Here's the lot I found: 98 ungraded cards, all from the second series, with a little duplication. Many stars and short prints, but no Lansford.

The lot breaks down, conservatively, as follows: 7 % NM, 48% EX-MT, 38% EX, and 7% VG-EX.

Here's the question: If I get into this lot at 54% of book, should I be able to turn it at 65% minimum? I do not want to grade these cards and spend more on grading fees.

Thanks,

Ron

  • SMR or Beckett? If beckett, I would say 75% min. Nice find!

Beckett, and actually I need to amend my previous question. I got the cards for 25% of high Beckett in NM condition. 100% of high Beckett is $8000. I got 'em for $2K. I would think that at a minimum, I should be able to turn these for $3500. Agree?

If you have seen the cards in hand and that's your conservative estimate, I would believe $3,500 is a safe and reasonable assumption.

I'd love to get into the vg-ex stuff to get you started.

Cards are in hand. I am going through them now. Some pretty gradeable cards in here, but as I said I don't want to mess around with them that long. Then again, I just looked at a Ronzani that could go 7 and I am wondering..........

Ahman, if I decide to piecemeal these out instead of as a lot, I will PM you with the VG-EX ones. There are about 6 or 7.

    Yes.

They Bowman FB has been hot. I have sold some raw EX at prices much higher than I thought they would sell for.

Well boys, it has worked out and then some. I went through the cards last night and separated 31 of them that should grade 6 or 7. I then sold the remaining cards today for $2300, so the lot has paid for itself. The others will go in for grading and then be sold! This is great, it's like the gift that keeps on giving!

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

Thanks, Mike! Perkdog, no Giffords in there, these are all second series. I'll list the cards available later tonight.
