BEWARE OF THIS EBAY SELLER!!!!

Ok, I broke one of my own cardinal rules about not checking shipping rates because I was being impulsive. Anyway, after I am done and win 3 cards from this guy, I go to checkout...cant because he hasnt sent an invoice so I went to his shipping calculator to get the transaction taken care of.....

3 cards shipping rate 31.55 and I live 2.5 hours north of him!!!!

Yeah yeah, I should have looked at the FB too but I was taking a chance because I wanted the cards he had. So that makes two cardinal rules I broke.

Here is a link to one of the auctions....

Scam artist

Will ebay pay attention if I send excessive shipping complaints on his auctions? The amounts are not listed but only done by his calculator.

I wrote a friendly email stating that I think his calculator is not working correctly and that his auction states that he does combine shipping (shipping on one card for him is over 11.00 for priority USPS. No first class is offered) But I dont think I will get anywhere with his guy. I just have that gut feeling.

If he does then great...but if he doesnt, what would you do? Would you stiff him and take the negs or would you take the cards and give him a neutral or negative?

Is there any way to get ebay involved to cancel the transaction due to excessive shipping so that he can not leave feedback?

Any input is welcome! And yeah, you dont have to tell me I was an idiot for not looking first...I already know that part.

Are you sure you correctly typed in your zip? I live on the West coast and USPS Priority calculated out as $11.15. High? Yes, but nothing to lose sleep over.
  • I don't think you'll get anywhere either. BTW, It isn't a "guy", it's a friggin' professional ebay seller coorporation. So yeah, I don't think they'll negotiate anything.

Funny on one of their neg's the buyer neg'd them for excessive shipping of $14. Their reply? "Shipping was only $11, insurance was optional!" LOL Even if you go to pick it up (since they're within 2 1/2 hrs), they'll still charge you a "handling fee".

I'd avoid the whole hassle and take the neg. But then I also buy under a seperate Ebay ID. You really need to do that if you're going to sell also.

This auction is full of FBS. Our local ISoldit did not even last 6 months. I think they have to look to make money other ways than off of commission fees.

I did the shipping calculater to MO nad came up with the same charges $11 and $31 (for 3 items). They are to be mailed priority, but will not be shipped 3-5 days.

Since you are dealing with an ISoldit, this card is probably owned by a third party. There is a company name (Ichiban Ventures, Inc dba iSold It) and phone number in the disclaimer. Ichiban is Japanese, if that means anything.

I would wait for the invoice before going any farther. If the invoice still has the high shipping, then raise all kinds of stink with him, EBay and the ISoldit franchise people. Maybe being a pain in the arse will get the shipping lower or you can get the auctions cancelled.

    Best of luck.

Regardless of what you do, report him because he's not shy with his S/H gouging:

$14.10 was charged for shipping & insurance on ONE $40.00 football card to Calif Buyer: george$ ( 530) Jun-23-07 13:59
Reply by isoldit.ny0116 (Jun-23-07 19:27):SHIPPING PAID WAS ONLY $11 and Insurance was optional...

    "ONLY" $11 for a $40 item.

If he's reasonable, go ahead and complete the transaction. Just make sure you reflect his excessive S/H on the feedback.

What an a$$! If he charges you $31 bucks to ship 3 cards he is a thief imo. They probably won't do anything, but ebay should step in and do something. This is a clear violation of excessive shipping.

Barry, I cant blame you for jumping the gun on that auction. That is one really nice looking Munson.

Tell them youll pick the cards up in person. They are right in my neck of the woods. Im sure I can find a way to get them to you cheaper than them !

  • I saw some of this seller's stuff last week and almost bid, until I saw the shipping charges to SC were $23.00...on a $14.00 card...

Edit to add: Maybe there is someone on the boards you can trust that will go pick your items up and ship them to you for a lot less than this guy charges. Might save you some $$ and drive time...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

I live about 20 minutes from their store location, and when I type in my zip code he wants $11.85 shipping from me too. LOL He only charges $3 to walk in and pick it up, so maybe I can get some good deals from this seller because people are reluctant to bid because of his shipping rates.
  • I would report it, but since it is closed it is doubtful Ebay will do anything.

If he won't do anything there is no way in he77 I would pay him anything. If he negs me for it oh well. Nobody will really care as long as your response is truthful and factual. Hopefully you have a buying and selling ID on Ebay.
  • It's not so much the negs as it is the NPB strikes. If Barry doesn't pay and this seller follows through with filing NPB on Ebay, Barry gets three strikes. 3 negs won't hurt Barry as much as the three strikes.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

  • I bought from an Isoldit once.

    NEVER again.

Has anyone every seen one that doesn't have horrible feedback?
    image
  • I would only count as one strike since it is from the same user. He can also go to Ebay and appeal it, EVERYONE gets one NPB strike removed just by simply asking.
  • Reporting it will not do you any good. I've gone down this road with the Isoldit group and had zero success with ebay. In my case I bought 6 cards and my shipping charge was $48. The purchase price was under $40. I was amazed and outraged. I refused to pay the shipping and had planned on swallowing my first neg. It took over a month of very slow e-mail communication but I finally got them to drop their shipping charges down to around $8 and I settled the deal. However, I learned at that time to NEVER buy from ISOLDIT ever again. I suspect most people only get bitten once.

Thanks to those who offered to pick up the cards!

Well, I did get him to drop the shipping to 18.30...but then there was tax(which he actually is entitled to because we are both in NY) and then shoved the insurance down my throat for 2.25...it wasnt optional(which with this guy might be fine!).

I figured it would have all cost about the same if someone picked them up for me. The 7.20 "handling" charge and then having them actually shipped.

So did it work out? Well, enough for me to go ahead and complete the transaction but I know I will never buy from this dope again.

Thanks for the input everyone.....and thanks Bri and Nam for your generous offer of going there to pick them up for me! With all the bad crap that has gone on in here, members willing to do something like this is the reason why I love this place!

EVERYONE GO AND REPORT ALL HIS AUCTIONS ALL THE TIME.....its the only way ebay will do something about this. They need to make their profit with a percentage of whatever they sell..not gouging the bidders with shipping...I just reported his keyboard lol

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    Yup.

Another dirtbag, killing EBAY one buyer at a time.

ALL of his listings should be reported. EBAY should
be contacted by telephone; the seller is stealing
    from EBAY via excessive S+H.

NEVER buy anything using a primary selling-ID.

NPB strikes are easy to have removed. As noted,
the first one is a freebie; appeals are easy when
the basis for the strikes are disputes over S+H.

Buyers should never worry about NEGs. They mean
nothing; ONLY sellers are harmed by NEGs.

The guy seems to have adjusted his calculator.

    One Card $6.10

    Two Cards $12.20

    Three Cards $18.30

    Still a scam.

  • It is a nice Munson. I thought it was a 9 before I saw the flip.

Complete Jacka$$ seller. Also, maybe you can get out of honoring
your bid on the '75 Munson card. His title states PSA MINT 8. There's no such grade and you can say you thought it was a MINT card you were buying, not an NM-MT card that an 8 grade represents. Just a thought........ he's scamming you, why not scam him right back?

It IS a nice Munson - but yes, those isoldit sellers - ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe their shipping. I'd risk the NPB, frankly.

Well I sucked it up because I really wanted the cards. Just made the deal that much less sweet. But I will have to be more careful with my impulses!!

He will definately get a few complaints on shipping practices reported on him from me. Good call Loth!

Wow - and to think, these iSoldit franchises are supposed to be a "professional" alternative to selling items yourself on eBay. But they are acting worse than almost any eBay seller I have ever seen with respect to S&H ripoffs. Not to mention, even after they extort $31 (or whatever it is, anything more than $5 is a joke) from you, they mention that your items won't ship for 3-5 days!

You are right storm888, con artists like this one are indeed killing eBay. And it sucks for people like myself, who sell cards all the time and do not profit from S&H (and ship daily). When people get burned by the iSoldit's of the world, it makes them less likely to return to eBay. And, it seems like eBay doesn't recognize this, or care.

  • thes Isoldit Stores are nothing but rip off artists, they charge huge fees for shipping and "handling". avoid them.
  • They also charge huge fees for the consigners. Many pay as much as 50% of the Final Selling price PLUS Ebay and Paypal Fees.
