#LetsGoSwitzerlandThe Man Who Does Not Read Has No Advantage Over the Man Who Cannot Read. The biggest obstacle to progress is a habit of “buying what we want and begging for what we need.”You get the Freedom you fight for and get the Oppression you deserve.

  • I don't even want to talk about the track. About a month ago me and my wife were at LA Downs and there was a turf race where only a couple have raced on turf before. There was one horse going off at about 140:1 I got to looking at this horse and felt he had a good chance, but there was another horse that looked to dominate this race he had to overcome. I put 50 across on the favorite after thinking it over. I did go ahead and put 2.00 across the board on the longshot. Just felt at those odds I was missing something obvious to everyone. Right before the race started I told my wife I should have put the 50 across on the LS. He won by about 6 lengths. Paid around 500 for the 2.00 across, had I put 50 across it would have been about 10K

Hmmm, sounds kinda like the Superfecta today at Belmont
The 7/4/6 payed $989.00, for 2 Bucks , But if you added the 12 horse ,it payed 8,769.00 .

But you have to watch , on certain days certain horses just don't run well and others do against the pack, even the favorite .

    Track conditions / weather / medication . . . If the jockey is passin gas . . .everything is a factor .

    I love Belmont .

I am sure there are people who have played the ponies longer than me on these boards, But oh what a thrill!! I am a previous horse owner and i think i have a good handle as to how the "game" is played. I stay in contact with some close trainer friends of mine in the So. Cali area so i can at least get a handle of the surface in place at these tracks.

Del Mar opens soon and they will be running with their new surface track. The story is South American horses appear to be taking to the new surface faster than the U.S. and Euro horses.

Horse racing is really the most exciting thing to gamble on. I play poker for a living and have no qualms about throwing $500 bets out there without feeling any emotion whatsoever. But if I hit a $500 exacta it's like the most thrilling thing to me. I can't coherently explain it.

Here's my recent story- I had a Pick 4 alive going into the Belmont Stakes. The two horses I have are Curlin and Rags to Riches, and since they show you the payouts if certain horses come in, I knew I get $900 back if Curlin wins and $2700 if Rags wins. Naturally I'm pulling for the filly, but I'm not all that confident that she can run with Curlin. Well, for anybody who didn't see the race, coming around the turn it was those two neck and neck. It looked like she had him put away but he kept coming back. Regardless of what happens, I know I win but we're talking about a difference of $1800. Needless to say I'm about 3 inches away from my TV screen and screaming at the top of my lungs. I think she might've heard me. That was by far the biggest hit I've ever had betting horses.
