so a friend of mine comes in the store today..........

about a month ago they told me they buried some coins on the farm in the early 70's and were gonna dig-um up and bring them in,they brought these in today,just the silver, the gold ones were krugerrands, anybody know how to remove rust without hurting the coin,theres a couple of seated halves, a 1879 cc morgan (not a vam i don't think) anyway bought um for melt.......russ hope this helps!

    What did he bury the coins in? A tin or aluminum can?
    Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

    Rust? That's viridian and cobalt natural toning. Those coins are worth a premium.

    Not the best way to store coins really.

    Those look hopeless. Unload them when silver passes $14.

    Soak in CLR. It will remove the rust and not affect the silver. Been there. Mike
