Rock tumblers---do they really work?

I've never tried it, but do rock tubmlers successfully wear down coins?

They successfully polish rocks, so I imagine they would.

According to what I have read here.......no they don't work. The TPGS can spot them a mile away.

    I would think so.
    Would they grade? Doubt it.

I collected over 1,500 coins during my first year with my White's XLT, with nothing of any value and most were buried. I tried all kinds of tumbling media and test, including crushed walnut shells. They all came out the same...looking phony. They did work great at Vegas in the machines though!
