I agree, be patient.

I agree. Don't rush it. Place a WTB post on the BST...
<< <i>If someone took five slabbed MS66s, five slabbed MS65s, and five nice raw gem uncs, how well do you think you could tell the slabbed 66s from the rest, and are you willing to pay a couple of orders of magnitudes more just because some slabbing company says they are ever so imperceptibly better than some other coins, and the slab population is basically merely limited by how many have been submitted? >>
He's probably buying it for a registry set, in which case the one point difference is important. And yes, there is a rather notable difference between an MS65 and MS66 when it comes to Lincolns

You guesed it, and I would buy nothing under 66. But I almost always with everything by just bidding PCGS prices. This is insane.
"Circulation strikes: 317,570,000!"
It may be a tough date, but there has to be comparable MS66s that won't be as much money....is THIS one really worth paying that much for?

<< <i>He PM'ed me with the research that said all 279 known ones were accounted for in registry sets. >>
Actually, I said that all 279 were tied up in the world series of trading. The premise being that a sure way to tell if the PCGS price guide is low is to see what's being bought up in the contest.

Not an issue with this seller. He just sucks at imaging.

That is good to hear. I have avoided his auctions in the past due to the overexposed images. I might have to look at a few more closely in the future.

Or that there exists one person (and quite possibly just one) that thinks that. Or even merely that one person hopes that PCGS will raise their price guide on the basis of the last couple of ebay sales and "purchased" the virtual coins between the sales and the price guide raising.

<< <i>Is $420 for that common coin a good value in that grade? >>
I wouldn't think so, but others apparently disagree.
