BARBER HALVES - Grades back - I'm #7 whoopee!

I just got most of my nicer Barber half dollars graded by pcgs, and it went pretty well, all in all:

Some good, some not so good, some back in the same plastice they originally came from (all were crack-outs). I have 4 more being graded with my free CC submission, and I have a few at home that are listed in my registry set (#7).
I've also got a few NGC slabbed MS Barbers that I haven't crossed over yet, but I'm planning on getting these liquidated, so if anybody is interested let me know. I know that some were interested in how these would come back - they've been in a Whitman Classic for several years (decades, even). The BB's are nice coins from TPG holders - I get a special kick out the 'questionable color' response (since you can't call it a grade!) - PCGS basically washes their hands of the coin - even though I'm paying for the authoritative decision. The coin has a very dark, dirty (but even) toning, with lots of mint luster underneath the darkness. I don't fool around with any coins' surfaces - I crack 'em, put them into the album, and leave them to themselves! I think that "questionable color" should fall under the altered surfaces category - in the expert opinion that I am paying to get, the coin is either NT or AT - it should not be in question after having been viewed by several sets of trained eyes. I think I will ask for a refund on this non-grade.

I too have been slammed on some of my submissions...especially
on cross-overs.
Regardless, you've got some mighty nice coins there, I'm sure.

All in all, I have no complaints, and I think I just may resubmit those bb'd coins someday, although it looks like there is some interest in nice, raw Barber halves! That may be the path of least resistence in moving the coins to other collectors.

Actually, the only reason I'm spending the $$ to get them graded is to move them on to other interested collectors, so if I do move up, it won't be for long.
Just an aside - I think I've gathered more general coin knowledge in the time I've focused on the Barber series than any other time in my life. That design, and the time during which they were minted, and their place as a workhorse of commerce (as well as what happened to many of them in later years) combine to speak volumes to the collector who pays close attention.
