20th SAE sets

Looks like even open boxes are getting good prices on the bay....over around midnight.

  • However, the spiraling upwards of prices has pretty much stopped. Seemed to have been averaging in the mid 500's for the past couple of weeks. You can find some around 580 here and there, but also some around 535 or so. Not much movement anymore.

PS. This is for raw sets from opened box.
  • They are taking a breather - they will start going up again soon. I noticed 2 NGC graded 70 sets both going for over 1900 today and one just closed a little while ago:

These raw sets are going for close to $600 each and there are 17 of them:

Yes they may have hit a bump in the road, but I have the feeling these will continue to inch up over time.

  • Looking at the number of items when I do a search for anniversary items, the count has gone up steadily over the last couple of weeks. I think the prices have made a lot of people decide to sell now. When enough sets get from the hands of the flippers to the collectors, I think prices will start to move up again.

Do they say what their buy price is?

I'll pay that much for them.
  • These sets are not even close to their potential...I am holding on to mine...as there is nothing that will compare to them coming out this year.....these were a once in a while dream to purchase and those who missed out from the mint are regretting it...in 3 years I will not be surprised to see the raw sets at $1,500.00 per set...if not sooner.

I agree. The 2006 RP will obviously be the king of the set and second only to the 1995-W proof in value, IMHO.

If you see $1500 raw, then sealed will be going for $2500 and that is with the milk spot scenario...I dunno, but I'm game. Better stock up on boxes and regular proofs....lol

The ONLY coin is the RP, IMHO, even though there were less minted single 2006-W burnished (right?) 470,000 minus 250,000 minus 20,000 (legacy sets) for 200K?

I am thinking TPG sets will climb more than sealed and narrow the gap over time.

Sorta reminds me of the fiasco discussed here a few years back about a bunch of 1999 silver proof sets that someone sold that had blemishes/stains/spots all over them.
