PCGS-graded state quarters

RYKRYK Posts: 35,800 ✭✭✭✭✭
When I joined the forum in 2002, there seemed to be a lot of interest in PCGS-certified, high-grade, pop top state quarters. I cannot remember the last time someone posted about state quarters, except in regards to the pseudo-error Wisconsin state quarter. Does anyone collect these (other than from change and to put in albums or state maps)? What is the market for these? Does this portend anything about the future of Presidential dollars? Other "new, new" Mint products?

  • i have all the Proofs in the slabs with flags... makes for a nice presentation... and the SHQ looks very nice in proof... a cheap but fun set to build with the kiddies.

Clearly someone has hijacked RYK's account. What IS this world coming too??

Seriously, someone post a gold coin.
  • Guess I'm the butt of the joke. About the time this posted I bought P&D mint rolls of KY's for $25(both) from OH NO eBay! And to think I talk bad about folks buying the modern spoon stuff????

  • I watch for nice examples in change and save them for my 8 yr old grandson's collection. I'll bet he'll always be able to name all the states. Now he will be collecting the presidential set.

Hell, I'm just surprised he has an opinion on the WI coins. image

  • I have 6 sets of circulated state quaters P and D all up to date not to mention Mint sets and the silver sets. I must say of all the state quarters I like my home state of North Dakota the best image

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

The last time I remember a state quarter coming up here was the Delaware PCGS PR70 DCAM that sold for about $6k which wasn't that long ago.

FYI - I tried, and they don't fit in to a parking meter image

There remains a "SELECT" collector base for high grade state quarters. Those few collectors pride themselves in owning the greatest percentage of highly graded specimens; hoard them (though there may be only few available,) and will pay dearly for them. A few months ago I sold a 2005 satin finish ms70 for $1,200.00. The buyer bought it because it was one of 6. He/she already owned one of them. He/she figured they cornered the market because they now owned one third of the top pops, and they intended to continue their search for the other 4 coins.

I have a set of the PCGS PR69 Silver in non-flag holders. Just wanted to have a set of the silvers for some reason. I'm not real interested in chasing the 70's though, a nice set of 69's will be fine by me. They do look nice in silver.
Witty sig line currently under construction. Thank you for your patience.

The same way I feel about my ASE set. I enjoy looking at a MS 69 coin every bit as much as a 70.

I feel the same way about my OGP ultra-moderns image
  • I open a roll of quarters every day that I work. When I come across one that looks like it's MS66 or better I'll keep it. I haven't found many! Eventually, I'll take the better coins and send them in a modern submission.
