Toned 1921-P Morgan in an NGC 10th Generation Slab

I didn't say the toning was pretty. This is a 10th generation NGC slab used from July 1 2003 - September 1 2003, right?

As far as the usage dates for that particular generation of NGC slab, I couldn't tell you ... but I can say something about toned 1921-P dollars !! The '21-P is a tough issue with attractive color ... these two PCGS MS65 are possibly the two nicest toned examples around, and certainly the nicest of the four toned pieces that I own:

Yah, I've noticed that the 21s tend to tone poorly compared with most other dates. (So do the 21 Peace dollars, in my experience.) Were there issues with the dies or planchets that year that may contribute to this?

I actually bought the slab and not the coin. I had never seen that style of label. Appears it was only used for a couple of months. The coin is "okay".... fugly fingerprinted toning on the obverse. It has character. For $20, I like it.

That's a great resource ... except it is missing the most vital information that we are all interested in: the date(s) of production for each type. The website owner who put that together should work with the major grading companies to get that information. I think they might be willing to assist and provide the info.

Those are the sample slabs, and doesn't appear to include all the regular production models. What's missing, for instance, is the original NGC slab that had a black insert with gold lettering on the back.

That label only lasted a couple months because some NGC customers complained about their label advertising NGC's web site. Sorta tacky.
