Considering selling some of my 10 set 20th Anny SAE's...

hiijackerhiijacker Posts: 1,173 ✭✭✭
These were sent in as part of a 10 set submission. They are all first strike. I am not sure how to break them up, as I received only one MS69 for the uncirculated's. Would you create a "69" set with a PR69, RP69 and MS69, or create a set with a PR69, RP 69 and MS68, as since there is no such thing as a MS70, all of the coins are just one off of the highest grade?

Here were my results.

I might disagree a little......see what the individual prices are like on some of them.
You may find someone devalues a set because of the 68. You may get more selling a 70 then a 69 then a 68, all separately.

It really is a toss-up but something to look into before you list.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • If the MS-68's look good you might consider re-submitting them. Play the game.

  • were these sets some of the earlier ones? look at all dem 68s.
  • IMO, if you're going to sell and you want to maximize $$$, I believe you'd be best selling each coin individually.

    i will ditto the HO.

would you have done better selling a sealed box with FS date grade eligible?

After results... would have been better to sell as sealed box but who could know.

    the 1st strike MS-68's are getting a little over $100 as compared to $350 + for ms-69's

At least got 4 1st strike pf-70--- going for over $600 ea I believe.

I actually did the 1st strikes with a set of 5. Got 3 MS68 SAEs.
I agreed with 1 of those (milk spot....I've seen worse in PCGS MS69 holders but I didn't feel it should be a MS69 so I sold it as-is).
I took the other 2 and paid for the HRH Presidential Review and HRH agreed with me...they got the MS69 label (there was NOTHING wrong with these...no spots, no ticks, nothing...and, he was using a very critical eye as he spotted a small tick in liberty's gown somewhere that kept a RP PR68 from going up to PR69).

So, they were extra harsh, imho, early on for the mint states of these.

Absolutely break up the 68's and sell them separately.

BTW, of 19 listed completed MS68 2006-w ASE auctions on eBay, 1 is NGC, 18 are PCGS:
    Speaks volumes..

These were all graded very early on which I understand they were were very tight then. If I resubmit, what is the difference betwen presidential review and just resubmitting?

Presidential review must happen within 30 days? of the original submission.

Regrade can be done at any time, just re-submit them in their slabs so that they retain the first strike/ 20th anniversary pedigree.

    Best of luck, Rob
