There have been several previous threads on this subject that might provide more info but in a nutshell the gist of the threads is that if you want theft proof security then a fire (gun type) safe is not the way to go as the walls are too thin to provide much protection against a semi determined thief. But if it is fire, etc. then a fire safe will do it;s job. There were some cautionary statements about the chemicals used in the lining possibly having an adverse affect on the toning, etc. Make sure there is a way to remove humidity (heating rod or desicant (sp?)) in the safe.
I would search for the other threads...there is a ton of useful and interesting disscussion about safes...I learned a lot!

Any input? >>
Coins ok from what? If you are hoping to save them from burglars, forget it. You need a tl-15 or tl-30 rated safe and even in this case a professional WILL get in. From a fire? Depends on the quality of the safe but unless you are talking a commercial vault, if you have a major fire, everything inside is likely going to be destroyed.
A fire safe is designed to protect papers from charring. It may still get hot enough inside a fire safe during a house fire to melt your slabs and flips though.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
