The New .99999 Gold Maple Leaf

Does the fact that the Canadian Mint makes such a pure gold coin makes it more collectable? Does it carry a higher value for the future?
They really are beautiful. I was wondering if the price is worth investing in for the future.
A clip I took from the add:
The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has released the very first .99999 (that's five 9s!) pure one-ounce gold Maple Leaf. This gold coin represents a new standard in investment products and is the only .99999 pure gold bullion coin currently produced by a government mint.

Do 3N and 4N gold develop copper spots?

It's that extra nine hundred-thousandths of gold that makes a quality coin, I guess. I better hurry to get rid of my Buffalo junk piece before it disintegrates!
Seriously, it's interesting to see another set of products, even from a hype-oriented brand like the Canadian Mint. (They make the US Mint seem austere in comparison.)

If you are wondering why 5N Au is important, see this thread

The 3N-4N-5N collecting construct sure seems a lot more high-falutin' than my idea to collect simply by base metal.

Well, according to this thread, 4N isn't enough.
Silver naturally occurs in placer gold somewhere around 10% so I wouldn't expect toning to be an issue.
Thanks for the heads up on these. I chose one. Since it was a dutch auction, the confusion, I believe, kept the price down.
Beautiful gold coin!

You can track coin sales on Ebay or Teletrade.
<< <i>Five Nines gold is cool ... but not $2200 cool, for me. It's still just one ounce of gold, same as a Buffalo. >>
Another difference between the 2005 5N CGML and the AGB is mintages. The 2005 5N CGML has a mintage of 400 while the AGB is umm, high. Of course, that one is Canadian and the other is US makes a big difference in demand. Many differences even if both are one ounce of gold.

Wow, great price. That's gonna be below melt by summer's end.
Assuming the seller delivers on the presale, that is...

On most things yes, I picked up 2 of the new 99999 Canadians today from them.
There are brokers out there selling them graded MS 69 by PCGS for $1150 and $2200 in MS 70
You get them raw on issue card for spot+ from APMEX
"The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD GOD Almighty."
The photo on APMEX helpled my decision.

Yes, so do I. I see the value rising on ebay lately with some selling for over $1000.00. I think mine were purchased for around $580.00. They are unique.
I also like the maple Palladiums. I have some in the NGC MS69 2005 version.

$530.00 more for that 5th .9 of purity? What a waste of good money in my opinion!
