Post some misaligned dies, want to see how radical they can get

StrikeOutXXXStrikeOutXXX Posts: 3,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
I found this cent a year or so ago, and found this nickel tonight looking through some rolls. Nothing super special, but since the reverses are normal, that makes these a misaligned die (MAD) and not off-center strikes. I just wondered how extreme a MAD can get. Post some whether they are extreme or not, any denomination is fine - might be a neat thread.

Very nice examples, looks like the last two are pretty close in misalignment size.

Are those pretty close to the maximum you can get and still only be a misaligned die?

Not sure how far off they can be....here's a shot of the reverse of the '19 I posted earlier. It's definitely not a broadstrike, but it would be cool if it was!

There is a 1973 Lincoln cent floating in the hobby somewhere that shows a remarkable 25% mis-alignment. Fred may remember this coin as it first appeared to be a common off-center. It did not appear to be a set-up piece since the coin was fully struck.
