Ever noticed how you can immediately tell who a seller is on ebay by seeing their gallery photo?
As an example, and only an example, and not to plug them or otherwise, but Anaconda’s coin photographs all have the exact same look to them, regardless of the coin being photographed, and I’m wondering why this is.
Another example was Tuesdaynightcoins (sorry to mention them in the same post as you, Brandon!). I could tell within a millisecond that it was one of their auctions simply by glancing at the gallery photograph.
You can see this photograph consistency with many other regular sellers, too.
What does this say about the photography being employed?
Is it because the set-up is the exact same each and every time?
Would it have anything to do with their software?
There are hundreds of photographers on here, and what say you?

Anaconda probably has a fixed setup for photographing his coins which would explain the sameness of the photo's. If I were a high volume seller, I'd do wexactly the same thing. Come up with a workable format and shoot em all alike.
Russ (aka: Compucheap) does the same thing which is one reason his auctions do so well.
The name is LEE!
Any seller that moves numerous items on ebay would need to take a business 101 class if their auctions do not look the same/similar. As a seller on ebay, you find out what works best for you, you create templates for both explanations/text along with photographing and you use both over and over again with minimal changes.
So the short answer is: my lighting, background, focal points etc. change as little as possible to keep each picture consistent, informative and as sharp as possible.
By the way, I KNOW my methods are not perfect and I am always trying to improve how I deliver information to my clients so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Best Regards,
Rob

Of course. A repeatable process is much more efficient.
