Am I the only one to think that this is NO WAY a 65? Wow, that's one overgraded 14D but I've never owned one that nice and maybe that date is just too hard to find a strong strike? Oh, and yes it's BN too. bob

Umm, well, actually. it's not because of the plastic. It's late die state and it has abrasion wear on the inner digits of the date which makes them thicker and makes the contour rounded where the digits meet the field, casting an odd light. It is very common for early mintmarked Lincoln cents. The same should be visible on the TY of LIBERTY.
As for the coin's grade, if it's not AU55, it's MS63BN. I can't really tell whether the spot on the cheek is wear without seeing either a much better lit image or the coin itself.

ya you better crack it out to make sure.

Speakin' of 1914-D Lincolns, how come the one I submitted at the Charlotte show hasn't come back yet? And how come I get nothing but a blank page when I try to check on the submission, hmm?

Part of the problem could be that I used a three year old form with four freebies left over from FUN 2004. (Submitted it with a printout of CoinKing's approval, though.)

Well, all I can tell you, it's plain as day on my monitor. Even with a magnifier put to it. The heck with a LCD, I'm keeping this one.

Correct. As originalisbest said, it is an imaging artifact.

I'm not seeing any doubling. May be die erosion from a late die state.
