Interesting look to the 3CN. I have never seen one with that coloring. The half dime looks nice and original.

If the images, and my interpretation of them, are accurate as they appear on my screen then I have no problems with any of the four coins posted.

True, it is rare to see three-cent nickels with much color, but this woodgrain pattern is something I have seen in the past and I always thought of this look as coming from longterm storage in paper. The colors on this coin are also consistent with what I have seen in the past on these pieces and they are primarily a grey, auburn and mauve over a background of grey and light green. I can imagine that many folks would not think this coin attractive, but I think it is a very nice MS piece. The 1841-O dime is fantastic and also appears to be an MS piece, or at least a very choice AU, but the luster appears muted. The 1855 WA dime looks to be a choice AU with very good, intact luster and the mild rose and forrest coloration over the auburn is quite typical for coins of this era. Lastly, the 1861 half dollar is a nice AU coin with original skin, since it looks to have a trace of wear beneath the knee, but the spot of possible corrosion within the crook of the elbow would have me concerned.

All sweet. The 3cN is a tad funky, but it's interesting- the sort of thing that might grow on me in time. It undeniably has some nice colors and I bet it is very nice in hand, eh?

Like the last two Seated pieces and I LOVE that '41-O dime. If it is for sale, let me know via PM. I probably can't afford it right now, but who knows.

The toning on your three cent piece is very interesting. I don't recall ever seeing such nice toning on a nickel piece.image

    Thanks for the opinions everyone.

I very seldom bid on ebay as most stuff I find on there is crap. However, I was pleased by this sellers coins and their quality overall.
As far as the individual coins, I evaluated them as such.

3cent- I liked this coin because of the toning...and the fact that it looks very natural. Toning on three cent nickels of this nature is rare, but this one has the look for sure. The streakiness made me at least feel better about the color as I agree with Tom that it usually is the result of some sort of tissue paper or envelope type toning. The seller had it listed as a MS64. I am not sure if I agree with that grade since I cant see the luster...but I imagine it is muted. I guess a MS63 if that is the case.

The 41-O dime was my focus coin to be sure. I just cant seem to find coins that look like this and have the originality that this one shows. I am hoping that the luster is present when I get it.

The 1855 dime, while common, was a great buy and get as well. Looks original and I grade AU53/55 depending on the luster.

The seated half was graded by the seller as AU55. I thought that was a bit tough. It does have the slightest bit of friction on the knee, but it is a perfect slider to me. Again, luster is going to be interesting. I am also concerned about the possible corrosion in the crook of the arm. If it is, it was not mentioned and will be going straight back.

The seller has a return priv and 100% feedback...I will take my own pics when I get them.

Ok, here's my take on the Seated coins:

    1841-O Dime XF45 Nice originality

1855 Arrows Dime XF45, possibly AU50 if the lusters there.

1861 Half Dollar AU58, a very nice slider. I was thinking about bidding on that one last night. Congrats, looks like a superb original piece.
