Has there been a coin series you did not collect until you started seeing pictures of them on the fo

I apologize if Longacre has asked this question in the past...as I was writing the title, I thought it sounded like one of his! I do not collect copper, other than a Lincoln set I inherited, but after seeing the incredible coins that get posted on the "weekend" thread, I can't help but think that I want to start collecting some...I assume that some of you have been influenced in a similar way...what do you collect now that you might not have if you had never come to the forum???

    Yep.
IHC and Lincolns..... BN (generally toned).
Also, Roosevelts when I saw some pics here and someone sent some toned ones to my son, now we collect those as well since he likes them.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Yes! Just started WLH's, I loved seeing them on here and wanted them for myself.

I would never have dreamed of owning a $20 Saint, until I saw how affordable they can really be. Now I've moved on to other Saint Gaudens designs!

I went wild at a coin show after seeing those original crusty bust halves on this forum and bought a small hoard of 12 coins VF+, early dates, then realized this has nothing to do with my collection, then detoxed, now I am fine again. image

Don't worry, after a few thousand more posts, Longacre will have asked every possible numismatic question. Then he will have to start recycling old Longacre questions! imageimageimage

I did not collect jefferson fs's and major varieties until seeing some of keets and carlwholforths posts.

Once the jefferson bite took hold, I stopped all other pursuits and focused totally on that series.

  • I collected some really nicely toned Indian cents because of pics posted on the forums. I had never really seen any vividly toned Indian cents like the ones posted. This cent (pun intended) me on a quest to get a couple nice examples for myself.

I've thought about collecting/ purchasing some toned Silver Roosies and MS-65+ Jeffersons, but haven't quite gotten to that point quite yet.

I collect whatever the wind blows to me. If I see a great deal on a VF, EF, AU, MS+ coin (prefferably pre 1840) I'll jump on it.

Oh, I forgot, I have started collecting NT (MS) Morgan Dollars. They're beautiful coins.

Nope. But I have wanted to try out bust halves here and there and see (on this forum) that there seems to be enough of a community to make that fun if I went that way in the future. But I'll probably go do colonials and early large cents when I break from Morgans.
