The Mint should have kept their mouths shout (or The Madness Begins)

A yogurt shop is giving a 25% discount for anyone that pays only in nickels. I doubt the general public would have noticed the value of nickels had the mint not been all over the news saying don't melt or hoard these.

My eyes! My Eyes!
One day soon, a nickel will be big money here. It's only fitting that the current generation learn to prize it as if it were gold.
<< <i>Time to hoard Nickels? >>
I kinda do now.. I go through 5 rolls a week.. most of them go into my 5 gallon water bottle.. and stay there for a long time.. I guess I am one of those evil collector/hoarders.. the mint warned us all about in the 60s

<< <i>That's probably very appropriate in this country today - a generation being programmed to view Nickels as valuable items. I mean, look at out lust for Chinese plastic and silicone. Soon we will be importing Chinese Automobiles - all the while we are exporting our manufacturing jobs. >>
If you don't like it here, you're free to move to China, yourself
a nickel for circulating coins so perhaps the reporter and yogurt shop are merely confused, though.

Put-up or shut-up as the saying goes.
China and India build new cars for $4000. Heck, I'd take one today and leave the $25,000 GM's for everyone else.
How about working to improve what we have & not necessarily descent back to that other old timer saying: "whats good for GM is good for the US".
Well, just Love coins, period.

Oh come on now, nothing that dramatic.
Don't matter if you love the country or not, if you're out of a job, sometimes you need to go where opportunity is. Just ask any Mexican who travels great distances under harsh conditions and I'm sure they would tell you.
My main concern about China is that if they continue soaking up our jobs, moving to where the jobs are ( China ) might not be a bad thing. Now granted, there are plenty of job-hungry Chinese that don't want "foreigners" coming into their land, but maybe shoe-shine opportunities might exist? Or maybe a cut-rate "American" Laundry Service?
