1878-S Morgan Doubled? Opinions Please

Found this today while looking through some Morgans.All of E Pluribus is like this.What do you think?

    When in doubt, don't.
  • Definitely doubled, but this is not rare for 1878-S Morgans. All morgans from 1878 commonly have doublings, recuttings, etc, since they were still trying to work out some bugs with morgans

    I'm sorry, but I disagree, it's not doubled, it's TRIPLED!

    FYI - The lettering, motto and stars were punched into the master die by assistant engraver William Key. Apparently Morgan did the dates himself. (Engraver William Barber mostly fumed at the "new guy" getting the dollar coin design, and assistant Charles Barber cut wreathes and ornaments - but not for Morgan's designs.)
