2007 Gold Uncirculated American Eagles Available April 27

WASHINGTON — The United States Mint announced today that 2007 Gold Uncirculated American Eagle Coins will go on sale beginning at noon (ET) on April 27.

“The uncirculated American Eagles proved to be such a popular new series for collectors last year that we are launching the coins five months earlier in 2007,” said United States Mint Director Edmund C. Moy. “We will mint to demand, with no mintage limits, to give interested customers the best opportunity to add these beautiful coins to their collection.”

Struck on specially burnished blanks, the American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Coins feature a finish similar to their bullion counterparts, but they carry the "W" mint mark reflecting their striking at the United States Mint at West Point. Each coin is encapsulated in plastic and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

The American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Coins are priced at the relative mid-point between the American Eagle Proof Coins and the American Eagle Bullion Coins, and bear the same designs. Gold values affect overall production costs for this program, and the 2007 prices are listed below.

The American Eagle Gold Uncirculated One ounce coin is $749.95; the American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Half-ounce coin is $379.95; the American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Quarter-ounce coin is $195.95; the American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Tenth-ounce coin is $89.95, and the American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Four-Coin Set is $1,379.95.

Since they are minted to demand - maybe many people will buy and start a strong collector base for the "W" unc. gold which will drive up the price for the '06's. They seem to be languishing but they will surely be the lowwwww mintage of the "W" gold uncircs.

    Just a thought/hope. image

wow, the prices are very reasonable, not much higher than the reg. gold bullion coins.

Yes it may help the 06's, a wee, wee bit. But there is nothing to get excited about this set. There's no bubble gum..... no nothing.

Any market in the BTS for these above melt and a few Benjamins?....I'll go look.

48 hours away, do you feel the excitement??????

  • If i were the mint, I would take the first 10,000 2007-W uncirculated Eagles and number them 1 of 10,000---- 2 of 10,000 and so on. then i would make a limit of 1,000,000 coins and randomly send the numbered ones out with orders! I would Guarantee one to any order of 100 or more. image Yes I am on DRUGS!!!

Or, just put a special label that says "these were shipped before most of the others" on the first 10,000 sets to leave the Mint.

  • Hmmm... not much of a premium over the vanilla bullion 2007 gold eagle. I may just have to buy one.

I hope they take off but I won't be buying. If the Gold Buffalo Fractionals come out these might be ignored.

Then this would be a good thing for the Eagles, no?

    7over8,

If anything gets posted it will be right here:

    LINKY

And, if they don't update they'll probably still do it. I called last year for my First Strike labels on the Platinums and the 20th Ann labels on the Gold and they didn't know either...
  • mrmommrmom Posts: 348
last year I went for every first strike pcgs offered; 20th ASE, 20th AGE, 2006-w plats, etc.

this year, I don't think I am gonna submit them at all, it is not worth the money

Whelp, that about says it all for me!

Not this year! I'll stick to buying the 2006 W Unc Golds & Plats image

Still nothing on the website but the search by price area is unavailable which may mean that they are uploading the info.
Was there a mintage limit for the 2006 w plats and unc gold last year?? I dont remember that there was one, I thought that it was also a mint to demand thing
    Buy the dips!!!
  • I am not sure there was a mintage on the 1 oz, but I think that the smaller demoninations were limited.

I could be wrong and am trying to find out. I am not interested in buying these if there is not a set mintage figure to work with.

There was no published limited mintage last year. People hoarded near the end of the year because
the sales figures up to that point were extremely low, causing the Mint to close out the item.
  • NeoStarNeoStar Posts: 1,123 ✭✭✭
Last year's description at the mint was "mint to demmand" just like this year. Nothing has changed. The difference is that last year everything happened at the last minute and due to slow sales the mint didn't strike many. This year they started earlier, that's all...
  • 7over87over8 Posts: 4,733 ✭✭✭
First Strike will be done this year for Gold W's at PCGS, same rules apply

Early Release will be done at NGC as well
  • I think I am going to take a pass on this issue.

Too many things to collect and can't afford it all.

At least we get to talk about numbers again from NN

    Even if we buy nothing!
  • Last year there was no First strike on the fractional "w" gold uncircs , some had 20th anniv labels and some didnt for no apparent reason at pcgs

you will get it as they will "mint to demand" which is almost 100 units, now, maybe another 100 then that's it.

    j/k

maybe i need to pick a set or two up as well.....
  • 7over87over8 Posts: 4,733 ✭✭✭
    OK guys -

the mint is doing the "day to day" shuffle on the availability date on backordered tenths......now 5/14.......since Friday PM
  • 7over87over8 Posts: 4,733 ✭✭✭
Come'on.....a minted to demand issue and such a wait time to order tenths?

Do these guys know what Mint to Demand means....

Or does it now mean......"Mint to our Projected Demand" ?
  • JoflaxJoflax Posts: 979
my guess is that they minted as many as last year and once the demand hits their projected mintage ..they will go black. They probably only ordered as many boxes from China as last year....unless China produces boxes to demand.
    Buy the dips!!!
