The Oklahoma State Quarter?

The mint has decided to take the Pioneer Woman's Bible out of her hand! We have a famous statue in Ponca City named the Pioneer Woman and she has her son by the hand and her Bible in the other. She has been chosen to apper on all the examples but one and now they have taken her Bible out of it. This is the mint not the state of Oklahoma. We want it. They said no symbols of religion but it has " In God We Trust " on the quarters. Same thing to me. How about you?

No, we don't want it. You want it. There is a difference. That said, I don't particularly want ANY of the finalists--especially any of the ones featuring the Pioneer Woman.

I agree if your going to put the Pioneer Woman statue it should be correct. I really don't care for any of the designs but that's just plain stupid since it could be a school book. There shouldn't be any fight over rather "God" should be included on our money.

No, I don't claim to speak for the entire state. Nor does Carolyn, however (nor do you, for that matter). Therefore the totally inclusive "we" is incorrect. That is part and parcel of being a "fiercely independant type."

Yes, this is true, but you didn't answer the question on how you think it would go in a popular vote

<< <i>going with the Pioneer Woman is a bit of an affront to this troubled territory, what with its "trail of tears" history. >>
Do you even know the history of the trail of tears??? Starting and ending points even??? null
So, as you see, Oklahoma wasn't even a state. What happenend came straight from Washington, and across 4 other states. Hence, since this is a "statehood" quarter I don't think the trail of tears is relevant, but I believe Oklahoma should honor their Indian tribes and culturs in one way or the other on the coin.

I understand your point, albeit not your overuse of question marks. We're talking just of Oklahoma, and not all of the various aspects of the "trail of tears".
Here's one early (rejected) design that reflected Oklahoma's role in this:

Read the verbal descriptions. None of them mention the bible in the Pioneer Woman's arm.

And how do the various proposed "Pioneer Woman" motifs do this?
If you'll calm down for a second, I think you'll find that we're on the same side. There are five proposed designs; four of them depict the Pioneer Woman. Two of them have an Indian "peace pipe" on them, with the Pioneer Woman trodding in front of it. This I consider to be somewhat of an afront to the Indian peoples.
Again, I prefer the birdie design because it is (a) attractive, and (b) politically neutral.
1.a Beverly Hillbillies style overflowing pick-up truck
2. a matte finish ( sandblasted ) pic of a tornado, incused with a surrounding cloud of dust.
All that silliness notwithstanding, if there were a single symbol which represented the essence of the character of this great country, the Okie coin should have it.

Sorry to get excited
I was just defending Oklahoma because we had nothing to do with the trial of tears.

<< <i>I think the Oklahoma SHQ should have bison on it
And a salmon!

Don't forget that one major reason for the Trail of Tears is Dahlonega gold and Georgia has a state outline and peach on their SHQ

Only if I'm permitted to smooch chyks by holding an OK quarter over their head...
You can read about it at the Pioneer Woman Museum.
