Do you collect numismatic literature/catalogs by theme?

I think the word “theme” is overstated a bit, because I know there are people who collect only books on early copper, only books on gold, etc. My question actually is whether there are any collectors who only collect numismatic books about a certain coin or very limited dates in a series.

In another thread, a board member mentioned that he collects auction catalogs (and possibly books) that include the 1913 nickel. That is a collecting method that I never really considered. Although the 1913 nickel has not changed hands very much over the years, it makes an interesting collection and theme to have all of the auction catalogs and references to its sale over the years.

Does anyone collect in a similar manner? Is there a special coin or date that you tend to focus on, and then track its auction appearances? I assume for this to be a worthwhile pursuit, you would need to pick a pretty rare date coin with an interesting history, but I was curious.

I think the 1839 large cent would be a wonderful narrow collection - we have the Booby Head, the Silly Head, the Braided Hair, Head of 38, a tough overdate with a total of 15 Newcomb varieties, the N15 being a post-Newcomb addition - 9 varieties are R1 or R2, 4 varieties are R3, a R4 and a R6 (R factors according Noyes book 1991).

just realized post is about literature not coins - sorry.

I have gathered several auction catalogs of early copper, and I mainly look for the middle dates.
