He appears to have forgotten some important questions.

    How is the weather?
    Do you like curry?
    How high is up?

Then send the overpayment to me thank you very much.

Are your sure the email is actually from the real buyer? Many times these scam artists pick out closed auctions, and pose as the buyer.

I would contact the buyer as normal for you, and ignore the email that you got. If the buyer gets good funds to you, complete the auction as normal.

It's hard to believe that someone would be so stupid to think that someone else is stupid enough to fall for that garbage.
  • Nice scam. I like the "(united kingdom)" part. It looks the "buyer" forgot to update his cr*ppy template before he fired off his email.

If yes to all my questions.kindly
reconfirm your full name and address with your phone
number, so that the money order will be mail out
    fast..

And when you are done with this request, please post it the forum for everyone's benefit. What a joke ebay has become.image

About 5 years ago I worked with a female who "found" some brand new computers. She thought a friend left them at her house, but she wasn't sure. She sold them on the internet for $2200 - perhaps to this very buyer - but in her case they miscalculated the currency exchange rate between the USA and UK.

She sent them $800 plus the new computers, and then got mad at Chase Bank for her -$3000 account balance.....

  • I've seen similar schemes used for laundering money. The Money Transfer in those cases was real and it was made for a very high amount. In one case $45,000 for a $450 aquarium related item. The idea was to spend the $450 on an item (that's discarded) to obtain $44,000+ in "clean" U.S. currency.

I can see where high value coins would be a better target.
