just a heads up on a new virus thats starting to appear....

i just received an email from one of my friends that a new virus has started to show up in emails.
if you see an email with an attatchment that says " invitation " DO NOT OPEN IT.
it has a virus called an "olympic torch " which destroys the zero sector of the hard drive.

supposedly it was discovered yesterday by Mc Afee and there is no repair yet for it.

just a heads up.

its always nice to look like an idiot. i even did a full scan just to make sure i didnt get it from reading the email i got.
i thought it was from my friend but after looking at it i can see it was forwarded. i really dislike email address lists.

While that's a hoax, you can't always be sure.
There's that one virus, where if you just open the link to the website it ruins your hard drive.
I have the URL written down.
Okay, I made a hyperlink to the virus website.
None of the anti virus software can stop this one. If you click that link, it's goodbye computer.

MicroS**t Outhouse is just an enabler for virus and spam traffic. The lack of a status bar to reveal the URL for links in HTML mail and the inability to view HTML source without opening a message is unpardonable. Should also be able to suppress downloading of internet images. Spammers use them to get a serverside read receipt for their mailing and revalidate an email address.

The Outhouse [outlook] executable was the first deletion from the pre-installed software on my then-new computer. I only keep Internet Exploder [explorer] on it because some ActiveX scripts need it.
