What is it worth to you???

Here is an interesting request, one of which I have often wondered. What is this quarter collection really worth in today's market unslabbed. I think to the right collector who knows what they are looking at it would be worth a good penny. Here is a list of the coins. What would something like this be worth to you? Now I am not asking to go down the list with a greysheet and agonize over each coin. Just a blanket price will do as these are not for sale anyhow. I know what I have invested into them, but I also know to each collector they are different prices. Anyhow here is the list.

The Set is full BU with the exception of the 1932 D. Also minus 3 coins 32 S, 35 D, 36 D. If you had this set and were going to offer it to a another collector, you would be asking in the range of? While I know what the value of the set is to me, what the market would decide is another story. For purposes assume the grading of the coins is accurate. I know hiddin in this set there is at least one MS67 coin, but we shall leave that out of the equation. It will be fun for me to see what number you come up with.

  • I know this is just for fun, but I would never try to value the set with only a list of dates and grades. The coins could be low or high end for the grades you're assiging. They could be low, average, high, or extreme eye-appeal pieces. The set could be a gyp at $500 or a rip at $20000. Assuming they're middle of the road coins more or less accurately graded, maybe $4500 or a little more image

I think if you were to take them to a dealer and ask for a quote, the dealer would pull out his greysheet and if he is feeling generous, I mean really generous, he would say $2800.

    A lot.

I roughly counted that your list has 40 coins. I haven't looked at a Wash. price list in years but with the 32D
on your list I'm going to guestimate $1000 plus another $200 to $300 per coin.

  • I'd give about 2K for 4 of the coins, and leave the rest. Maybe 2500 for all of them.

    Which 4?

Oh I am sure some dealer would pull out a sheet. In turn this dealer would not have himself a purchase. image

I figured you would be after the 37 S, but the 32 is a really nice coin as well.
