4 Great things about the Santa Clara show and 1 photo of a new purchase

I had a great time at the SC show yesterday. I know some people were complaining about it being slow but that was fine with me. So here is a list of things that I thought were great:

1) Great parking! There were plenty of free and convenient parking spaces.

2) Easy access to aisles and tables. It was great to be able to move freely and view anything easily.

3) Easy access to dealers. And many had time to show me neat coins and tell me some great stories!

4) Meeting some forum members and having a bit of a show and tell.

It was very nice to see many of my favorite dealers and friends again. It was also very nice to meet the Anaconda folks and forum members SkyMan and SanctionII. SkyMan showed us two of the nicest half dollars I've ever seen. His Cameo Proof Walker is by far the frostiest Walker I've ever seen. SanctionII has done the legwork to put together a truly impressive complete set of Heavy Cameo Franlins and SMS coins of all denominations. He has searched long and traveled far to find all those coins raw!

In reading ScantionIIs report I can see I missed out on the latter part of the show and tell -- I had to pick up my daughter.

Here is a new purchase I bought for my hat. I didn't have a copper nickel IHC yet and this one has a nice hole so it will work out very well. image

Carl, It was great meeting you at the show yesterday. Your early Jefferson Cameo proof nickels are greatg. I hope you find the missing coins. SanctionII.

    I enjoyed meeting you too!

Part of the reason I showed you those coins is so you can keep an eye out for more! image If you find any I would buy them from you at a great profit and that would go a good way to help pay for additions to your type set! They don't have to be the missing years, I would love to own multiples of any and all proof Jeffs from '38-'42 with noticable cameo contrast.

I like the holey IHC because it has a nice square hole. The excess metal is all there on the reverse. It looks very much like it was nailed onto something with an old square nail. The hole on the SLQ I bought is not nearly as nice. image

I agree that's there's nothing wrong with a slow show! I went to the Expo today (instead of Thursday/Friday like years past) and thought the show was a little slow too, but I still managed to find some nice items. I even saw one dealer packing up about 11:30 this morning!

You can see my show report here if you're interested.

Carl, I will keep a look out for the early CAM Jeffersons for you. I have a 1942 proof set with a non silver nickel that has some nice frost, but the fields are not mirrored. If I find any CAM early Jeffersons, I will have a hard time parting with it, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
