MS64 with really cool colors. Colors are market acceptable but with stuff like this I know it's just as possible to be AT as NT though.

I say PCGS graded this MS62.
They have been tough on Morgans lately...
If this was graded over a year ago it could be resting in a 63 holder at best.
    Nice colors...image

BU. there are so many morgans out there, i do no think they
should get a point grade unless a key date.

Great coins are not cheap, and cheap coins are not great!
  • I really think those marks are a little harsh for anything above a 63, but it's probably graded 64. This coin is all about the toning. Now I'll admit, I'm not generally a fan of fully-toned Morgans. The color is nice enough, but the spots just look weird to me. They draw my eye, and not in a good way. It seems to have very nice luster. I recognize that it's attractive, but it just doesn't flip my switch. I like the reverse more than the obverse. I hate to be the turd in the punchbowl here, but you asked for opinions, and this is what I'd be thinking if I saw it listed for sale. Even though the picture is great, I might have a totally different impression in hand.

63 obverse 64 reverse, so maybe PCGS MS63? Who really cares about the grade when they look this nice.

Low end MS 64, toning/eye appeal moves it from a 63 to the next level IMHO

Having a PCGS 1883 CC graded ms63 looking a bit better than this I say:

    If PCGS: 62
    If NGC: 63, maybe 64

    MS63

Although I think the color might give this a slight nudge toward 64 for "eye appeal".

Very attractive coin. I am in the 63 PQ camp on this one.

Darn, called out on my comments. Well I am going from memory of my 83 cc, so I will post a pic of it as soon as I find it whether it makes a fool of me or not. Hope my memory serves me correctly. Stay tuned.

It is a 64 with very nice colors.

The big and clear pics make the marks bigger.
  • Absolutely no doubt--MS64
