If anyone is bored a bit, here is some pics of my half eagles.
I dumped quite a few common half eagles last year and kept the
ones I liked. Every coin sold made a small profit thanks to the price
of gold.
I am once again in a buy mode and hunting for a nice key half
eagle.
What do you think so far?
I use this website on wikipedia so people looking up half eagles
have a few pictures to look at.

Actually, I am calculating my offer for the set as we speak.
Nice coins, fc. My favorite is the 1844.
Where's LucyBop when you need her?
the rarest half eagles appear to be mainly from P and S. There is
a few token CC and O coins also in my short list.
My short list is made up of any half eagle that PCGS has never
graded a MS60 or higher. Sure some C and D coins fall into that
category, but they are always variaties.
1878-CC 1876-S 1875 1874-S 1873-S 1872-S 1872-CC 1870-S
1867-S 1866-S (with and without motto) 1865 1863 1861-S
1858-S 1854-S 1847-O
are my keys in the half eagle series. i wonder what ryk thinks of that!
Seemingly complete luster with with few breaks, marks or abrasions, wonderful eye appeal, strong strike detail, ... and punished due to the high mintage numbers ? This one looks like it is better than a 60.
The opinions are mine, only

it decided it looks better in that MS60 holder. PQ
