  • Thanks.... very interesting article. Makes me wonder how much the Mint is going to charge for all the upcoming issues.
  • Thanks, I like the white stuff. Not that white stuff....

  • Here's something else to add to the mix.

    >>>
Anglo Platinum (Angloplat) would not supply physical metal to a planned exchange-traded fund (ETF) based on platinum because it would sharpen supply shortages, the world's biggest producer of the white metal said yesterday. <<<

I wonder what effect this will have on the price of the metal. image

Yeah, its not in the miners interest to have a broader market and higher price for their product. Where do these guys come from ???

My view is that while it will not affect the underlying fundamentals, it will eventually add to market volatility. I believe that it was James Sinclair who recently noted that the ETFs imply backing by physical metal, but that their prospectuses do not guarantee it. I would expect to find the same situation in any new ETFs in Platinum or Paladium.

Methinks, if Pt were to set record prices, and stay there throughout 2007, many casual buyers of the US Mint plats might shy away, thus creating actual mintages which are lower than the already famous 2006 W-Plats.

I'll buy double handfuls anyway. image

A very valid observation, my friend.
