A seller to Block

Hi all,

I need some help on this one. Won the '68 Blanda for $3.80 plus $4.00 for shipping. sb9sports has sent me an invoice for $15.50 and stated that his policy is "ALL (NM and GRADEDitems)*MUST sell for HALF/BOOK value*"

This is listed in the Return Policy Details section.

I'm thinking this is against ebay rules and I'm only on the hook for the winning bid amount and the shipping. If he wants half book than the auction should start there or he should have a reserve. Plus, the Blanda books for $18.00 so he's charging above half book!

Any help would be appriciated.

Wow that makes no sense what so ever.
If you want to sell it at X, then list it at X.
I would definately notify ebay, but they wont do a damn thing...

Report him. That is one I am sure they have not heard. He should start the auction out that way. He is diverting the FVF and the great power eBay will jump all over him. This kind of crap has to stop.

On a side, albeit related note, one of his negs actually came from this dolt.

The way it reads it looks as if they is trying to get past eBay's policies. They have listed it in the returns portion of the auction. My guess is they send the invoice at half the book value and hope that people will pay. If anyone alerts eBay they will probably say it is part of the return policy and only accept returns on NM or graded cards if the final auction value is atleast half book value. Either way it seems very deceptive but I am guessing that they are hoping most people will just pay the invoice. I would send a copy of the invoice for ebay to see as well.

If you look close the seller revised ONLY this auction, his other auctions didn't say anything at all about 50%, he added the part about 50% book value on the 17th at about midnite eastern with the auction ending on the 18th. He knew the card wasn't going to sell for much and should have revised the price to protect himself instead of hiding it where he did.

Reserve Price Violations

This isn't an issue to debate, regardless of your religious convictions.

He's not being a crybaby, back-stab, or trying to get out of a "great" deal.

What you are doing is against eBay policy, period.

If you want the card to sell at least at 1/2 SMR, you should have set a reserve at that price.

You didn't, therefore your case holds no water.

That Lionheart post looks a little Fugazy to me. Probably put in so that emails would be sent to this seller. Look this is simple really just stick to the selling policy of EBAY do not pay his "Adjusted Market" price and contact EBAY immediatly through Safe Harbour to give them the facts regarding this Transaction. Lets not be tempted to get off the track here and get into any religious rhetoric with this seller.
