    This was a $47.00-delivered purchase.

    It was shipped fully-insured.

There are a couple of bangs to the left-corners of the
boxes, visible in the scans. No way to know if that is
    the "damage" being referred to.

    EDITED TO ADD:

If the buyer saw the bangs and opened the boxes, he
should not have done so. Opening boxes that have
taken a hit is a sure way to void any seller's "return
    policy."

Selling primarily unopened packs and only 1 neg in 9 years - quite extraordinarily amazing really.

I would say that it is miraculous, and virtually unheard of.

I hope that if BBCE does not find that they did something
wrong here, they will stick to their position in the matter.

I participated in the small hockey card box break that renrutmd organized about a month ago and at that time I commented on this forum about the extraordinary job BBC did on packaging up the measley two packs I had delivered to me. I agree that the post office was to blame. The one negative won't hurt him from a business point of view obviously, though I have to believe he is annoyed nonetheless.

What surprised me though is that this buyer had bought from Steve several times before and left very positive feedback. If the box was truly damaged during shipping, I'd have a hard time believing that Steve would risk getting a negative FB over a $40 item.

I believe ebay rounds up to 100% if you have enough positives to offset the one negative.

The first 2000 positives negate 1 negative in the % displayed.

    Thus, 100%.

You've got to have some real onions to do that to such a great seller. Even if I was in the right, I'd give a lot of leeway to not have to leave a neg. And getting a neg from a seller of this stature can't look too good on your feedback either.

The buyer seems to have been a pretty substantial
BBCE customer. Seems odd he would burn a bridge
    over forty-bucks.

It just shows to go you:

Even a great seller like BBCE cannot afford to leave
    FB first.

How so? I would be curious to hear how you can remove feedback like this - I always thought that unless the buyer agrees to remove it, he was pretty much stuck with it. I have read about paying $20 to Square Trade to facilitate this, but I thought the buyer still had to agree to the removal.

They can pay for mediation but the buyer still has to agree to it. I left a neg for a seller and he wanted it removed. I vehemently declined and the neg is still there. I would be very surprised if this neg hurts Steve to the tune of even one sale. Besides, nobody will even be inclined to look at his feedback since it still says 100% anyway. I wouldn't even open it up.

In fact, if I saw the "Buyer and seller mutually agreed to remove feedback" I might be more suspicious.

BBCE does a great job, they have nothing to worry about. Glad Steve made the wisecrack though, it is a classic.

Usually you get this from people who have never sold anything on ebay. In fact, I will be the 1st to admit I did a 180 on this issue once I took the plunge and started selling. I will, however, leave FB for some trusted buyers but now I am thinking maybe that would not be prodent based on the fact this guy seemed to have established a decent customer relationship with Steve and still left the neg after one bad experience.

    Storm,

Is it correct that the buyer must agree to mediation in order for a seller's neg to be removed? I vaguely recall that there is another method to have a neg removed for fee, without the buyer's cooperation, but I'm not sure. I recall that Steve received a bogus neg about a year or two ago but it was ultimately removed but I wasn't sure if the buyer had to agree to that or not (it was not a "mutually withdrawn" feedback).

Grote I think the 'mutually agreed thingy' is only 2 years old. before that you could like you say for a fee (25.00)?have it done. I think the person giving the neg had to respond even back then.

For a seller who has a great a selection of sets/unopened packs as he has, not to mention the fact he gives practically overnight shipping for no extra charge AND the fact he even replaced factory sets that were smashed (even after they were opened), Steve so did not deserve that neg. Steve is a class act all the way and I hope someday soon to buy up his Topps football set run (if it's still there).

    Hello!
Yes, this customer was driving me nuts for a long time now. The neutral was because he didn't get any David Robinson rookies in 3 out of 4 boxes. Yet, he failed to mention he got 5 out of the 4th box. These were case fresh and untouched. Hoops was AWFUL that year with collation. He tols me that you should get 5-7 Robsinsons per box. Trying to explain that you SHOULD get 1.8 Robinsons per box didn't seem to phaze him about the fact he thought you should get 5-7 per box. Unbelievable.

I even bent over backwards on other items also over time.

This time, I told him that some Classic boxes, Ultra boxes and Stadium Club boxes have cards that may stick together somewhat due to the ultra glossy surface. So what does he do? He opens all 4 boxes and then tells me the cards had to be seperated. He wants a refund and the rest of the world. As usual, I would have worked with any customer to make them happy. However, at this point, I was taking it all the time with this particular person. We all know that some customers will not be happy no matter what. Well, this guy was the apex of that statement. All I can do is take the negative and move on. I don't even want to mediate to get rid of it. My brain has hurt enough with this guy. I guess getting a negative however has only promoted the fact that it took almost 9 years to get it!

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words! Steve
